Charlotte Tilbury Icon Eyeshadow Palette!

Purchased by me

After buying the Pillow Talk Eyeshadow Quad (review here), my obsession with Charlotte Tilbury was reignited and the Icon Eyeshadow Palette has satisfied my craving for more—at least temporarily.

The Charlotte Tilbury The Icon 12-Pan Eye Palette $65.00 is a new, limited edition palette featuring nine shimmer shades and three satin/matte shades. The palette is meant to be used in columns to make a trio: Day Eyes, Date Eyes, Diva Eyes and Disco Eyes. As per Charlotte’s aesthetic, each trio has a prime shade, an enhance shade and a smoke shade. This is part of the Icon Collection which also includes a range of high gloss liquid lipsticks called Latex Love.

But can we talk about this phenomenal packaging for a minute?? It was inspired by the spotlights, rock stars and dancers Charlotte partied with at the Ku Club in Ibiza. The design pays homage to David Bowie, inspired by the famous face paint he wore while performing his iconic songs. He was known for rocking a brightly colored lightning strike across his face, and the same can be seen on the face of the packaging. This is truly a work of art and I’m so proud to have it in my collection!

Now let’s dive inside!

Day Eyes has a shimmery cool pale gold, a shimmery amber honey with micro-fine gold sparkle and a matte maroon red with warm undertones.

Date Eyes has a warm, bright antique gold with gold sparkles, a rosy pinky red shimmer and a shimmery copper/rust.

Diva Eyes has warm medium gold with sparkle, a shimmery light to medium bronze and a matte rich auburn.

Disco Eyes has a shimmery, sparkling sage green, a cool shimmery electric blue and a matte black.

Charlotte says you can use the shadows wet or dry and that’s true for the most part. However, if you want rich pigment and no fallout with the sparkly shades, make sure to prime with a glitter glue and use them wet to bring out their full intensity. Though there only a few mattes in the palette and they have a lovely texture–very creamy.

I appreciate the three finishes: metallic, satin/shimmery and matte and the mix of shades is good. I also like the addition of green and blue shades for fun. The shadows have such a smooth and silky texture and blend beautifully. With these 12 shades you can create a multitude of looks for day, night and partay time!

I’ve read reviews of this palette that claim it’s not pigmented. I’ll repeat it again ladies, the key to this palette is glitter glue. The metallic shimmery shades do not do well applied dry without it. I also got no fallout when using a glitter glue.

Charlotte Tilbury’s Icon Eyeshadow Palette is so fun and versatile! Like all her products, the Icon Palette has a certain sophistication to it. With her system of Prime, Enhance and Smoke both beginners and seasoned beauty junkies can create all kinds of looks!
