Purchased by me

Aside from the fabulous, high performing products, darling packaging and reasonable prices, ColourPop has won my heart with their cute and clever notes in every order I’ve placed. I know it’s a silly thing, but I love this small personal touch. I was so impressed with the In Bloom set (reviewed here) I purchased from ColourPop, I decided I needed to try the eyeshadows as well. When I saw the Mondays in Malibu set with six eyeshadows for only $30, I knew I had found my eyeshadow fix…for now. ColourPop I just can’t quit you!

Mondays in Malibu is packaged in a sturdy cardboard box a with a metallic shiny print of Palm trees and the company logo in gold. Palm trees and shiny gold–so very L.A. which just so happens to be where ColourPop is located. The box slides open to reveal the six shadows sitting in wells looking like a delicious box of chocolates. These shadows are sweet but not in a dessert kind of way.

ColourPop eyeshadows has the same amazing texture as the blushes. These shadows have a super creamy, elastic-like texture that feels feather light on the skin. I find fingers or a flat synthetic brush is the best way to apply them. I cannot stress how creamy these are so make sure to close that tight so they don’t dry out.

There are so many unique shades in this collection and I love how they can be sheered out or built up. The kit contains:

  • Gecko- Soft opalescent silvery green with pink duo chrome finish/ Pearlized finish
  • Snakebite– Mid- tone warm gold/ Ultra-Metallic finish
  • Sand Swoon– True pastel pink softly sprinkled with gold flecks/ Satin Luxe
  • Prickly Pear– Warm-toned Plum with tons of tons of gold and pink glitter/ Metallic finish
  • Mirage- Soft sage green with a champagne gold sheen/ Pearlized finish
  • Hot Tamale– Reddish brown with soft copper sparkles/ Satin Luxe finish

My favorite shades in this collection are Gecko, a gorgeous duo chrome that can appear pink, silver, lavender and  green and has a beautiful pearl finish. It’s a great highlighter too for eyes AND cheeks. I also love Mirage, a lovely pale green with a gold sheen. It’s a soft shade that brightens eyes. Those that like sparkle will adore Prickly Pear, a plum base with tons of pink glitter. It’s too glittery for me for everyday but I will wear it for special occasions. Prickly Pear pairs nicely with Hot Tamale, a deep plum with copper flecks–it makes a perfect crease color for a smoky eye. Snakebite is a very pretty peachy gold that I love. Sand Swoon is a matte pale pink that also works well with Hot Tamale.

I did this purplish smoky eye using Gecko  and Hot Tamale with Pixi Beauty Cafe Gold eyeliner on the lower lash line.

For a lighter eye. I used Mirage on the lid and Snakebite in the crease.

Bottom Line:  ColourPop shadows are absolutely amazing; the quality fabulous and the price very reasonable.  As you can see, there are many, many combinations you can create with Mondays in Malibu. The shades are unique and three dimensional. This has to be the best purchase I’ve made in quite some time!!  ColourPop I just can’t quit you! Highly recommended!

  1. The mirage and snakebite look is my favourite on you. Probably because a neutral look is what I tend to go for too.

I’ve been wanting to try out Colour Pop makeup ever since I saw my friend Megan (meganjoy.ca) buy it when she was living down here in California too. All of her stuff looked really nice quality, and SO pigmented – she bought a few of the twist up lipsticks/balms whatever they are.

  2. This looks so neat! I’m an eyeshadow addict, so it’s fun seeing all the different colors companies are coming up with and the fun ways people use them. Thanks for introducing me to a new place to get makeup!

  3. I love those shades. They are so pretty. I know my daughter would love them.

  4. They look great! They look very pigmented on your eyelids compared to the swatches. Definitely a colour pop! I’ll be checking them out!

  5. I love Colourpop! And those fun notes they write in every order are just adorable 🙂

  6. Okay, need this!, Yep! The packaging really is so delightful!

  45. ColorPop! that is sounding vaguely familiar as if I recently heard or read about some place in the very near past. Perhaps it was here on your blog. Anyway, love your colors this month. And how cool they put in a note in the box.
