January BoxyCharm Subscription Box

Purchased by me

I love beauty subscription boxes–getting them in the mail once a month is like Christmas! I don’t even read the spoilers because I want to be totally surprised when I open that box. I’ve tried a lot of beauty sub boxes and the one I like best is BoxyCharm.  It costs $21/month but the value is much, much higher. You get 5-6 beauty items each month that include nail care, skin care, makeup, haircare, fragrance and more with at least 4 of those items being full-sized. The box ships to the US and Canada. Each box has a theme with a card detailing the items inside. You can cancel at any time, but I doubt you’ll want to!

This months theme is Boxy and Chill–totally appropriate for January. The items inside did NOT disappoint!

TATCHA Luminous Dewy Skin Sheet Masks (Set of 2) $24 Tatcha is a huge favorite here at Prime Beauty headquarters and we don’t get to try products often because they are so pricey. So these masks are a HUGE treat for me! Ingredients like rice germ oil, vitamin E, essential fatty acids and highly concentrated botanicals and extracts help keep skin hydrated in the midst of a record cold winter. The mask is drenched in serum so I use the extra for my neck and decollete and left on for 15 minutes. My skin was super hydrated and silky after and I just rubbed in the extra. Glad I got 2 in the box!

Briogeo Don’t Despair Repair! $16 – This leave-in has tons of moisturizing and strengthening properties to repair and promote healthy hair. It smells fabulous and I love all the great ingredients that nourish my hair like
argan oil, coconut oil, algae, and others.

BITE Amuse Bouche Lipstick $26 I’ve always loved BITE lipstick for the creamy texture and bold, color-drenched shades. Bite creates small batch, low-heat process preserves a balanced blend of lip-quenching nutrients. Made with 12 edible oils and triple-milled pigments, this lipstick provides saturated lip color with weightless coverage. I love the citrus scent, it reminds me of Fresh lip balms. The color, Cotton Candy, a vivid pink will be perfect this summer!

Starlooks Luxe Longwear Eye Pencil $19 this mechanical pencil is easy to extend and retract but that’s where the fun ends for me. I received the shade Aurora which is a pink glitter that I can’t see anyone using. The color is so light it barely shows up and the silver glitter just doesn’t cut it. This will definitely go in a giveaway box.

tarte LE Rainforest of the Sea Eyeshadow Palette Vol.III $36 This palette of neutral shimmery eyeshadows illuminates eyes beautifully. I’m a bit disappointed there is only one matte shade, it makes it hard to create an entire look. The shades are:
Escape (nude pink luster), Tiki (matte beige), Heatwave (pink luster), Malibu (plum bronze), Rays (peachy copper), Compass (champagne), Jewel (copper) and Treasure (pearlescent). The texture is nice and creamy, though the shades are very similar in tone–I would have liked a bit more contrast. For example, Escape and Treasure appear the same on lids as do Rays and Jewel. The packaging, however is, really beautiful–very art deco.

For me, this is an okay palette. I realize many will disagree with me and that’s fine, I hope you do enjoy this palette, I’ve just have too many neutrals to care much about this one. And I still think it needs more matte shades to make it more usable. Just my humble opinion.

This was the box I received, all the products in my box are full-size. Your box may vary as there are a number of versions. There is currently no waiting list for a BoxyCharm subscription, use my code here!

Overall, another terrific box from BoxyCharm! The mix of makeup, skincare and haircare is appreciated. I hate it when a box is all skincare. The tarte eyeshadow palette is obviously the star of the box and would be for me if I didn’t have 3,122 other neutral eyeshadow palettes. The eyeliner pencil is a miss for me only because of the shade. I adore Tatcha and I’m happy they included 2 masks. I’ll get good use from the leave- in conditioner too. It’s a good curation overall with a total of $121 in product this month. I rate the January Box a B+
