Makeup Readers a Genius Idea!

Until about age 40 I had perfect vision. Then I started a job where I used a computer every day and I had to start using readers for close up work. Year after year I worked at my computer and my eyes got worse. I blame the computer.

Now I wear prescription glasses most of the time and I have a hard time reading my IPhone messages, and fine print but even more important, it can be difficult to do my eye makeup! Winged eyeliner is hard enough without being able to see clearly! Enter Makeup Readers to save the day! These one-of-a-kind readers assist in applying eye makeup.

I normally apply my makeup with a two- sided mirror; one side is normal, the other is a 10X magnifying mirror. I prefer the regular strength side for several reasons: with a 10x magnifying mirror, my pores look like craters on the moon, I can see the hairs on my chinny, chinny chin and my brows are turning gray. Also, looking in a regular mirror gives me a more realistic view.  However, I need a magnifying mirror for eye makeup, especially eyeliner and mascara. Hooray for the genius invention Makeup Readers!

Makeup Readers come in two styles available on Readers.com. One style has two separate lenses that open downward so that you can see in one eye while applying makeup to the other eye. They come in various strengths just like regular reader glasses. I got them in 1.75. I received this style in a colorful pink and yellow print that is darling.

The other style has only one lens that swings from left to right. While doing your makeup, use the lens on the eye you’re not working on so you can see what you’re doing then slide the lens to the opposite side. I tell you it’s a genius idea!

The main purpose of makeup readers is to make your life easier and always make sure your makeup looks beautiful and I can say they accomplish their mission! They are one of those products that are really nice to have in your makeup repertoire plus they are great for travel or even a quick touch-up!  I highly recommend them if you are having trouble applying your eye makeup due to nearsightedness.

There are lots of strengths and styles available, if you are not sure what strength you need there a quiz you can take or someone on the Readers.com can help you.

Makeup Readers are really affordable at only $15.99 a pair. But wait! Use code HAPPYWALLET40 for 40% off! Expires 8/31/17. Some exclusions may apply.

I started using reading glasses at 40. After 50, it got much worse for me. I also have a double-sided makeup mirror and that 10X magnified side is key in doing eye makeup for me, too! Did you have a learning curve with having to work around the bottom rim of the glasses while doing your eye makeup?

  6. Jeanine @ sixtimemommy.com says:

Those are really neat. I would love a pair like the first super cute! This is a really cool idea!

  7. I needed my first pair of glasses two years ago. I’ll be 35 in June, and at first I hated the idea of having to do things with glasses on, makeup especially. I remember applying liner, I would lift and lower my glasses while concentrating on one eye. These are terrific!!

  8. How cool is that! I never ever knew that was a thing! I’m fortunate enough to have perfect vision for now but will keep this in the back of my mind for when i need it!

  9. Theresa says:

This is a really unique design for glasses! What a cool idea.

  10. Karen Yannacio Morse says:

  14. Well that is a genius idea! I have horrible vision, and have an incredibly difficult time doing eye makeup unless I am right up in the mirror’s business. This might work a little better!

  15. Reesa Lewandowski says:
