Those of you who have been following me for a while know of my struggle with my fine, limp hair. I am on a permanent quest for big, bouncy voluminous locks. When the kind people from Philip Kingsley contacted me, I was definitely up for trying their Body Building line.

Philip Kingsley was the world’s leading hair expert, consulting to actors, models, sportspeople, journalists, royalty, TV personalities – and thousands of other clients who simply wanted their hair to look and feel its very best.
Philip’s expertise, which bridged the gap between science and beauty, earned him many accolades. He was labeled the ‘Hair Guru’ by the New York Times, the ‘Hair Wizard’ by Vogue and the ‘Hair Doctor’ by the Sunday Times. He was interviewed on Oprah Winfrey three times, made frequent radio and television appearances, and had a weekly column in the Sunday Times for nine years running.

Philip is the man who coined the phrase ‘bad hair day’. He was the first to introduce the idea of ‘hair textures’ into the hair industry. You can shop my texture, hair concern or scalp problems.

I have fine hair which means the diameter of each individual strand is fine. It does not refer to the actual number of hairs on your scalp. What may surprise you is that those with fine hair actually have more hairs on their scalp than any other hair texture, as is room for more of them!  I’m often told by hair stylists that I have a lot of hair.

The Philip Kingsley Body Building Collection consists of Body Building Shampoo (250ml $32) and Conditioner (250ml $38). If your hair is fine, but long and processed, combine with Moisture Balancing Conditioner.

Philip Kingsley Body Building Shampoo offers gentle cleansing alongside maximum volumizing. Thickening the appearance of every strand, the weightless formula strengthens hair with natural cellulose, keratin proteins and copolymers, leaving your tresses full and fabulous. It also controls flyaway and static which can be irritating with my fine hair. Gentle enough for every day and color-treated hair. I love the soft floral scent and generous lather.

Philip Kingsley Body Building Conditioner keeps hair moisturized without causing build-up. It adds body and fullness that lasts all day since added lubricants will cling to your hair cuticle without weighing it down. It has the same lovely scent but I did find it made my hair so soft it was difficult to style. I found my hair styled better on the second day.

Philip Kingsley Daily Damage Defence $25 is known as a “Everyday Elasticizer.” This leave-in protective conditioning spray adds elasticity and provides defense from daily heat styling, breakage and environmental effects. As well as protecting from heated styling tools, this clever all-rounder also offers protection from daily environmental wear and UV rays. And it smells heavenly!! I can see this becoming a daily staple for me and it works much better for me than the body building conditioner. I can see why this has a cult following!
