I realize the Holiday collections are on counters now and that every mass retailer and grocery store alike have Christmas decorations up already, but around my neighborhood this is what it looks like. Fall is my favorite time of year. I like the transition from hot to warm, cool to brisk, green to orange, lemonade to cocoa, sandals to boots, etc., etc., etc. As summer fades to fall, make the shift seamless with these fabulous products!
I
love adore WEN Cleansing Conditioner–I’ve used nothing (well almost nothing, I did have to test a few shampoos) since trying WEN earlier in the year. Seriously, my hair have never looked better, felt softer and the color! My sister and a co-worker both asked me last week if I had colored my hair–the answer is no, just using WEN!Chaz Dean introduced a new limited edition scent, Ginger Pumpkin available only for the fall season–September through November. It smells really, really good without smelling too strong, plastic or like baked goods. It just smells…well kinda like fall!
If your hair is dry, frizzy, oily, dull or out of control, the problem might not be your hair–it might just be your shampoo. Shampoos that lather use sulfates and detergents, which can strip your hair of natural essential oils, and make it less manageable. Wen is different. The creamy formula cleanses and conditions without harsh chemicals to improve the look and feel of hair.
Chaz tweaked the formula of Fall Ginger Pumpkin Cleansing Conditioner too, it’s creamier than my usual suspects Pomegranate and Lavender. I’m told it’s closer to the SIXTHIRTEEN Daily Cleansing Treatment which has an exclusive blend of eleven amino acids to help restore strength and elasticity to even the most damaged hair. The unique combination of more than twenty-five natural oils and extracts like ginger, rosemary, lotus flower and ginseng deeply nourish your hair and scalp, while the absence of sodium lauryl/laureth sulfates and wheat or nut ingredients. Fall Ginger Pumpkin retails for $32 for a 16 oz (big) bottle and is available at www.chazdean.com or QVC. WEN is deffinitely going on my “Best of Beauty for 2011.”
Laura Mercier Cheek Mélange in Canyon Sunset ($40)
These sunset inspired shades blend to impart a warm fall flush to cheeks. You can swirl all the shades together or use separately. I’ve worn it both ways and am happy with the look I get. To contour, I use the middle brown shade just under the cheek bones and the peony shade on top. The bottom shade is peach/bronze–all swirled together it becomes a muted pinked brown with a tiny bit of sheen. Originally there was a gold overspray, but mine is so well used it’s worn off. This blush gives a good color payoff and lasts all day–6-8 hours on me. A good investment due to it’s versatility.
IT Cosmetics Hello Lashes ($29 for 2)
If you ever read this blog, you probably already know of my mascara obsession. Hold on to your lip gloss beauties, I think I may have found the Holy Grail of mascara! Hello Lashes! is a 5-in-1 treatment product designed to eliminate the need for a lash conditioner, primer, lash comb/curler, lash growth serum and tint.
Such attention to detail went into the formula, the packaging and the wand itself. The formula is creamy, does not clump, smudge or flake. The crazy brush separates beautifully and grabs all the tiniest lashes in the corners you didn’t know you had. I like to use the end of the brush for the tips to add some extra length. Hello Lashes can be found on QVC.com and at $29 for 2 it’s a bargain! See before and after pics in my full Hello Lashes review.
Estee Lauder Modern Mercury Eye Shadow Duo ($30)
This limited edition eye shadow duo, part of the Fall 2011 Modern Mercury collection designed by the brilliant Tom Pecheux, consists of a white silver shade and a soft pewter gray. The shadows are pigmented, blend easily and are easy to work with. The silver side can be sheered out or built up, but be careful of fallout if you pack it on. What I really like about it though, is that the color stays true and doesn’t morph into blue or lavender but rather stays a true silver. The colors work well for us over 40 women because they are soft not harsh. A more dramatic look can be achieved by amping up the gray side.
Burberry Lip Mist in Camelia Pink ($30)
Cameila Pink is a medium rose shade and the most pigmented of all nine lip mists. Lip Mists actually debuted last summer but I think this shade is so versatile it can be worn year round. The texture is creamier and heavier than Dior Addict or Chanel Rouge Coco making it long lasting (good news) but not quite as hydrating (not so good news). Lip mists have a semi-opaque finish and a rather strong rose scent. The packaging is awesome–the magnetic top and the elegant Burberry check pattern. If you haven’t checked out Burberry Lip Mists, you need to!
What are your favorites this fall? Tell me in the comments, I LOVE to hear what everyone is wearing!!
Oh I like that EL eyeshadow on you. I wonder if it’s still around.
WOW, your eyes look amazing. I love the grey/silver eyeshadow but I’m in love with the IT mascara. I am going to purchase it now because of your blog. Thank you for a great review.
