Disclosure: I’m proud to partner with CVS/pharmacy for the radiance PLATINUM campaign. I am being sponsored by CVS/pharmacy for my posts and activities, but all opinions expressed are my own, and all product claims or program details shared should be verified at CVS.com or with the appropriate manufacturers.

You may remember my previous posts: Get Healthy Hair, Skin and Nails with Biotin and Dietary Supplements Every Over Woman 40 Needs. Now I would like to let you in on a beauty secret: Vitamin E Oil. Read on to see 8 ways to use this miracle oil for your beauty needs.

When I was in high school my mother would use Vitamin E oil for burns and sometimes as a body moisturizer. I would use it to take the redness out of blemishes. I actually had pretty good skin in my teen years and I attribute it to two things: I had something akin to a Clarisonic I used every day and Vitamin E oil. Of course back then, we had to cut open capsules to get at the oil. These days it’s much easier with CVS RadiancePLATINUM 100% Preservative Free Vitamin E Oil.

Vitamin E is an effective antioxidant that prevents cells and tissue from oxidation, which can cause premature aging. Vitamin E also supports immune function and helps support cardiovascular health. It is naturally found on the outermost skin surface, where it contributes to antioxidant support. Using Vitamin E oil to care for your hair and body is easy with CVS RadiancePLATINUM. Radiance’s E-Oil is so pure it can be taken orally. Each five (5) drops contain 100 International Units (IU) of vitamin E (dl-Alpha Tocopheryl Acetate) in a natural base of wheat germ and vegetable oils. The radiance PLATINUM Vitamin E oil has no yeast, gluten, milk or milk derivatives, lactose, sugar, preservatives, artificial color, artificial flavor, salt. Vegetarian & Vegan formula.

Vitamin E oil has tons of beauty uses and it’s only about $10 a bottle. If you’re looking to use more natural products in your beauty routine, Vitamin E oil is a great start! And….good news beauties, Vitamin E oil is great for anti-aging!!

Anti-aging:
Vitamin E oil has an amazing anti-aging effect on skin. With anti-aging and antioxidant properties, Vitamin E oil can help cure any damage created by over-exposure in the sun and UV rays which cause wrinkles and aging spots. Vitamin E also helps increase collagen production in your skin. This helps keep your skin elastic and prevents wrinkles from forming. Not only is vitamin E a great way to prevent wrinkles from forming, but it also contains properties that help fade away an existing ones. For this reason, Vitamin E is often used as a key ingredient in several anti-aging creams and lotions that are available on the market.

Dry Skin:
Vitamin E helps to retain your skin’s natural moisture while it makes that winter skin look healthy. If you have dry skin, Vitamin E oil can help your skin get back to his normal balance.  Not only will your skin feel more moisturized, but due to the antioxidants in the oil, your skin will glow. Use it as a nighttime moisturizer but only a few times a week because it is heavier than other oils.

Sunburns:
Vitamin E oil is popularly used to treat minor sunburns. Due to its antioxidant property, vitamin E oil can work like a sun cream, preventing the sun’s rays from damaging your skin.  When applied topically, it is easily absorbed by the epidermis layer of the skin, and it heals the damages caused by ultraviolet radiation. But, it is more effective as an ingredient in sunscreen lotion, because vitamin E can make sunscreen more effective.

Scars:
Many people report success after using vitamin E oil to heal their scars. It helps to lighten acne scars and burns first by softening up the skin of the affected area, and in a few weeks time lightens the mark. By assisting in the process of regeneration of skin cells (that antioxidant quality), the old cells are replaced with new ones thus removing the scar tissue. It should be noted that no scientific study has yet proven this, but there are many personal recommendations from people who had scars and were able to fade them significantly by applying vitamin E. However, it may not be that effective for surgical scars.

Stretch Marks:
This oil is equally effective on stretch marks. Like scars you can use Vitamin E oil to help lighten stretch marks, but even better, you can apply the oil while you’re pregnant to not just prevent stretch marks but also to relieve the dry, itchy reaction to an expanding belly. Vitamin E oil increases the growth of new skin cells in the area, and also helps to restore the natural elastic properties of the skin. When I was pregnant the first time, I used turtle oil along with Vitamin E oil and I didn’t get one stretch mark. Of course genetics plays into the skin’s elasticity too and I happen to be lucky in that area.

 Skin Conditions:
A number of skin conditions can be treated with Vitamin E oil including psoriasis and eczema. It relieves the itchiness and moisturizes the dry skin really well.

Repair Split Ends:
Add a little Vitamin E oil to ends after shampooing when hair is still wet and comb through. You can also do a oil treatment on your whole head if you have dry, damaged hair.

Nails/Cuticle Problems:
Vitamin E oil is known to maintain the health of nails. Rubbing  a few drops of Vitamin E oil into your nails and cuticles once or twice a day and before bed will vastly improve the health of nails and cuticles.
