Australian Botanical Soap

A good soap bar does not just sanitize, it gently cleanses the skin without drying it out, leaving the skin feeling soft and invigorated,” says Founder of ABS John Apperley.

In early 2000 the choice of soap on the supermarket shelf was limited, most were small bars created from a tallow base (animal fat) and the soap lather was created by artificial foaming agents such as SLS, Sodium Laurel Sulphate. John Apperley saw a gap in the market and created an Australian Botanical Soap. A natural base soap bar that is long-lasting and creates its own rich and creamy lather, not relying on chemicals to do the work.

ABS soap bars are not tested on animals, and the brand has always been dedicated to using sustainable pure plant oils in the manufacture of their bars. The soap is biodegradable and can be used confidently in conjunction with greywater systems.

The natural soap base has a high glycerin content, derived from pure plant oils, helping to moisturize your skin. Organic raw shea butter is added to all bars in the range, known for its high concentrations of fatty acids and vitamins, it can help to soften the skin.

ABS uses a triple milling process that mixes ingredients evenly, producing a denser bar with more soap and less water, giving the bar its longevity.

The list of ingredients ABS leaves out are just as important.

The natural soap base contains NO:

  • Tetrasodium etidronate (EDTA)Parabens or Editronic acid (HEDP), used as artificial preservatives.
  • Phthalates used as lubricants and softeners.
  • Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS), Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLES), used to artificially create a soap lather.
  • Propylene Glycol (PEGs), used as thickeners and softeners.

Each of the bars is infused with a light, yet long-lasting fragrance bringing the beauty of Australia’s natural environment into your home.

I was sent the Goat’s Milk with Soya Bean Oil soap. Goats Milk Soap is especially suited to those with sensitive skin and those looking for a gentle cleansing soap bar. It will leave your skin feeling nourished and moisturized. This soap is blended with natural Goat’s Milk from the pristine farmlands of South Eastern Victoria. Australian Botanical Soap’s Goat’s Milk soap provides a richly lathering cream soap, softens and moisturizes as it cleans, and preserves your skin’s natural moisture content.

The Soya Bean in the formula is rich in Vitamin E. Along with being an effective antioxidant, Vitamin E also fights inflammation: One study of people with a condition called atopic dermatitis, which causes red, itchy, irritated skin, found that those who consumed Vitamin E got significant relief. Vitamin E helps skin hold on to water, a key factor not only in softness but in healthy, resilient skin.

These bars of soap are huge– 4.9 oz! The clean, delicate, scent of the Goat’s Milk with Soya Bean is lovely and the lather is creamy and luxurious.
