Bare Minerals High Shine Eyecolor Sparkles for Summer!

Super Girl aka Prime Beauty Intern Erica, shares her thoughts on the new shades of BareMinerals High Shine Eyecolor!

In search for a perfect summer eyeshadow, I stumbled upon BareMinerals High Shine Eyecolor ($16, Sephora). Having always been a fan of the brand’s makeup, I thought I would give this new shadow a try.

What I loved right off the bat was the packaging: The mineral shadow is in a small, portable tube so taking this eyeshadow with you is a cinch. The plush sponge brush applicator makes putting this eyeshadow on super easy and is great for on-the-fly touch ups.  All you need is one swipe of this shadow onto your lids and you are good to go! The shadow itself is light and soft, which makes it nice for the warm summer months ahead.

The rich, metallic hues are great for summer nights and thanks to the smudge- and fade-proof formula, you can be sure that your eye color will look perfect all day and last you into the night. When I wore the shadow in Ice (a light pink hue with lots of shimmer), it lasted me all day long (without a primer) and never felt heavy or like I needed to reapply.  The shimmery aspect of these shadows looks amazing in the sunshine and all you you need is one quick sweep across your lid to achieve perfect color. I actually liked how a little bit of the shadow fell below my eyelids when I applied it because I simply smudged it in and was left with a subtle illumination that hid my dark circles (this would probably only work with the lighter taupe-colored shades) and any excess brushed away easily. I did notice that the shadow creased a little bit after awhile, but that was easily fixed by adding a bit more color to my lid or by slicking on some eyeshadow primer beforehand.

The line of shadows has been available since October 2010, but be on the look out for new colors that hit stores this May, including: Flash (an icy lilac), Gold Medal (pure gold), Ice (frosted pink), Meteorite (iced mocha), and Vapor (gunmetal gray). These electrifying hues look great alone or mixed together to create completely unique eye color looks.

My picks for summer:

  • -Electric (deep teal) looks amazing when smoked out a little bit with flecks of gold shimmer.
  • -Flash (iced lilac) is perfect for a casual summer party; it is subtle, girly, and pretty.
  • -Meteorite (iced mocha) creates a soft, natural look that is great for an earth-tone makeup style.

Wear these shades alone or mix and match them together to create a bold summer eye statement!

  1. I bought one of these and have been afraid to wear it because it looks so sparkly. Maybe I need a Super Girl to review it for me!! Great review.

  2. Oh my, this sounds gorgeous, may I request a swatch picture?? 🙂 🙂
