Borghese Primer Mascara Lipstick

In my first Borghese review, I shared my thoughts on their Fango Purificante Clay Cleanser. Now that my face is squeaky clean, it’s time to delve into some Borghese makeup. Today, I’ll be reviewing three more of the brands products; Prima Viso Face Primer, $27, B Moisture Advanced Care Lipcolour in Grappa, $24.50, and Superiore State-of-the-Art Mascara in Superiore Black, $19.50.

Prima Viso Face Primer, $27 – 1.7 oz

Borghese Face Primer

Unlike the cleanser, I’m not sure if I’ve ever tried makeup from Borghese. They say the mind is the first to go, so it’s possible I don’t remember. Oy. I’m a big fan of primer and have been using it for many years now. Though I have my favorites, I’m always up for trying a new one.

The Prima Viso Face Primer has a nice gel consistency, which feels cooling to the skin. Because it is formulated with botanical extracts, the primer is designed to help balance the skin’s moisture And, unlike other primers, Prima Viso doesn’t have a silicone texture, which helps it glide on smoothly.  While I really loved the application of the primer and how it easily blended into my skin, I don’t feel like it actually absorbed into my pores.

I noticed this was an issue no matter what foundation I used or how I applied it; with my hands, a brush or Beauty Blender. Instead, my foundation looked like it was sitting on top of my skin. I could never really get it to blend properly. My skin looked dry, even though I was wearing moisturizer and primer. I added a setting spray, which helped somewhat, but not as much as I would have liked. I’m not sure if the Prima Viso Face Primer would work better on normal, oily or combination skin, but it was a fail for my dry skin.

B Moisture Advanced Care Lipcolour in Grappa, $24.50

Borghese Moisture Lipcolor Grappa

Surprise, surprise, I’m talking about lipstick again. The obsession continues and it continues with Grappa. First of all, I love me a great red lipstick, especially a brick red lipstick. Secondly, I love a lipstick that goes on smoothly and has a nice crème finish. The B Moisture Advanced Care Lipcolour in Grappa meets both of my lipstick needs. Plus, I think it is the kind of red that would look great on a variety of skin tones.

Formulated with ultra-emollient ingredients, Ceramide 2, Vitamin E and Aloe, the B Moisture Advanced Care Lipcolour is extremely hydrating, has intense pigmentation and kept my lips looking soft and smooth for hours. I love everything about this formulation and am curious to try other shades and finishes in line, especially the luster.

Superiore State-of-the-Art Mascara in Superiore Black, $19.50

Borghese Superior State-of-the-art Mascara

Coming a close second as my favorite can’t live without makeup item is mascara. On minimal makeup days, you can usually find me wearing lipstick or lipgloss and mascara. Like primers, I do have my favorite mascaras, but also like primers, I’m always up for trying a new mascara.

Since I have fairly long lashes, I’m always looking for a mascara to pump up the volume. Lately, I’ve also been into mascaras that provide a curling effect. Since I have very sensitive eyes, I need a mascara that doesn’t flake off or irritate my eyes. So how does Superiore State-of-the-Art perform?

It didn’t really deliver much on volume, but it did help to curl my lashes slightly. The brush on the mascara wand did a great job lifting and separating. I loved this about it because I felt like it gave my lashes a very natural look, with just a hint of something-something. Because the formulation contains a silk powder and is panthenol-fueled (a form of vitamin B5) it has great lasting power, doesn’t flake off and lasts for quite a long time.  So while it might not be big on the volume, it is a great mascara for every day wear, or it you like a more natural look.

My Borghese Look

Overall: As with any brand, there were some hits and misses with Borghese. While the Prima Viso Face Primer, $27, was a miss for me, the B Moisture Advanced Care Lipcolour, $24.50, and the Superiore State-of-the-Art Mascara in Superiore Black, $19.50, were big hits. I definitely recommend checking out both.

  28. I never used a face primer before. Its so hard to pick the right one, so many to choose from. I tend to use what others try, so I haven’t found the right one for me. I will try this one.
