BoxyCharm Subscription Box for September 2018!

Purchased by me

BoxyCharm is a monthly beauty subscription box. It costs $21/month but the value is much, much higher. You will get 5-6 beauty items each month that include nail care, skin care, makeup, haircare, fragrance and more with at least 4 of those items being full-sized. The box ships to the US and Canada. Each box has a theme with a card detailing the items inside. You can cancel at any time, but I doubt you’ll want to!

The theme for September is Wildflower and the items are:

Pretty Vulgar Nightingale Smokey Eyeshadow Palette ($35). This eyeshadow palette has all you need to create a neutral smoky eye. There are 12 sultry shades with a mix of matte, satin and shimmer finishes. The palette has brown and charcoal shades, all with great pigment. Pretty Vulgar is cruelty-free, fragrance-free, paraben free, gluten free and sulfate free. My favorite shades are the three shimmers: Clutch, a golden brown, Eye Spy, a gorgeous cool brown and Silver Spoon, a slate blue/gray. The mattes are great as transition and base shades and I use the three deepest mattes: Swoop, After Midnight and All Nighter as liners. I’m not doing cartwheels over the formula in this palette but I’m not mad at it either.  I absolutely adore the packaging, it looks like a cute vintage birdcage with a mirror and magnetic close.

Alamar Cosmetics Ojitos Brush Set ($18). This trio of synthetic eye brushes consists of a fluffy blender brush great for using in the crease, a flat painter brush for packing color on the lid and a flat tight liner brush that works great for under the lower lash line. The green and rose gold is a cute design too!

Laura Geller Baked Blush-n-Brighten in Tropic Hues ($28). I happen to think blush is one of Laura Geller’s strengths. These baked blushes are made by Italian artisans and start as a cream baked for 24 hours on a terracotta tile then hand-finished. The result is a smooth, long-wearing formula with several colors swirled together. Tropic Hues is a mix of coral, pink and bronze which results in a gorgeous pinky peach that will flatter all skin tones. Paraben-free, with skin-loving antioxidants Centella Asiatica and White Tea Extracts, this is the highlight of the palette! It adds a lovely luminosity without glitter or sparkle.

Butter London Stroke of Wow Roll-On Liner ($19). This interesting little gem is quite unique. The applicator is a tiny roller and it literally applies by rolling on your lash line. It claims to be quick drying and it isn’t. It does make it very easy to roll along your upper lash line but I didn’t find it any easier to do a wing than with any other liner. Personally, I would not repurchase.

Hank & Henry Liquid Lipstick in Petal Pusher ($17). This is a beautiful deep browned berry matte shade perfect for fall. I don’t particularly like matte lipsticks on my thin lips but I must say this one doesn’t seem to accentuate lip lines as much as most nor feel as drying as most matte liquid lipsticks. It’s also long-wearing and provides full coverage with just one swipe. If I wore matte lips in rich, dark shades I would love it!

Bottom Line: Another winner from BoxyCharm! This well curated box is perfect for putting together a fall look with a value of $117! Currently, there is no waiting list to sign up for BoxyCharm, you can do so here.
