ColourPop Lux Lipsticks + Vacation Mode Eye Palette!

Purchased by me

Beauty bloggers and YouTubers alike are cray cray for the ColourPop Lux Lipsticks and I wholeheartedly agree! They are available in 33 shades, have 0.12 oz of product and are priced at dare I say, a very cheap $7 price point. That’s less than some drugstore brands! This review is late because every time I tried to purchase one it was sold out. I finally got my claws on a few so here goes…

For a $7 lipstick, the packaging is quite nice and looks…well, luxe. Each one is housed in a lovely rose gold tube decorated with pretty stars. The lipstick bullets also have stars embossed on them– such a nice touch.

The formula is luxe as well; creamy, lightweight and easy to wear thanks to a blend of Acai, Jojoba and Pomegranate Seed butters. They glide on lips and are neither drying nor particularly moisturizing but the pigment is INCREDIBLE! ColourPop calls these matte but I think some look more like a satin finish. They provide full coverage in true shades and there is a shade or two for every skin tone.

I purchased four shades, I wanted more but the colors I wanted were once again sold out. I tried to get a mix from the vast shade range and here is what I chose:

  • Stone Fox is a creamy warm pale pink with a satin finish
  • Uno Mas is a warm peachy coral with a semi-matte finish
  • Lay Over is a warm rosy brown with a satin finish
  • Money Side Up is a vivid warm pink with a satin finish

L to R: Money Side Up, Stone Fox, Lay Over, Uno Mas

I think I did a good job of choosing warm shades for my complexion from the website though it’s always difficult to choose online. The only shade I’m not crazy about is Stone Fox, it’s too pale for me and washes me out. It would look great on darker skin. It’s no surprise that Uno Mas is my fav of the bunch, I’m very partial to peach and coral shades in blush and lip products. Money Side Up is a fun color to wear and it lasted through a cup of tea and lunch! Lay Over has more brown in it than I expected but I can fill in with a pink liner underneath and make it work. I also feel it will be a great shade for fall but not so great for spring/summer. Overall I’m happy with my purchase and have a few more shades on my list for when they come back in stock.

When I saw the Eva Gutowski ColourPop Vacation Mode Eyeshadow Palette ($12) I was hoping it was the cool-toned purple palette I’ve been waiting for someone to create! I do love my warm tones but even I’m tired of them and am ready for a change. You all know I adore my neutrals and purples are my next choice.

After oohing and ahhing over the ColourPop Lux Lipsticks, I opened the Vacation Mode palette and was immediately disappointed. Not because of the colors, but because of the size! It’s only about a half inch taller than my IPhone 7 and half the width. That aside, I found myself liking it quite a bit.

The palette consists of:

  • Round Trip a matte blackened plum
  • Mahalo a metallic amethyst
  • Teeny Bikini  a matte dusty mauve
  • Shotgun matte vanilla

At a glance, it seems pretty basic, but the colors work so well together to create a pretty orchid eye. The palette has everything you need: Shotgun for the brow bone, Teeny Bikini is a fab crease/transition shade, the gorgeous shimmery Mahalo for the lid and Round Trip for liner or for deep in the crease. It’s truly an easy-peasy no-brainer palette making it great for a quick look or for those who have trouble coordinating eyeshadow shades.

For $12 this is a fun and useful palette. The shades apply and blend nicely and better yet, there is absolutely NO fallout. Finally, an (almost) cool toned palette!

In this picture, I’m wearing the Vacation Mode Eyeshadow Palette and Money Side Up Lux Lipstick.

Not a bad haul for $40 plus I had a code so I only spent $34 for an eyeshadow palette and 4 lipsticks. Win!
