I purchased these products

Drugstore beauty products

Drugstore makeup has really evolved over the years and many brands rival high-end brands for a fraction of the cost. I added up this look to be around $37.

Without further ado, here are some of my favorite drugstore products and some that missed the mark.

What is under your foundation is almost as important as what’s on top. My favorite that I have repurchased over and over is from BH Cosmetics (available at Ulta & online). The Paradise Collection, face primers, and setting sprays are all color-coded: pink for Mattifying, blue for Hydrating, and yellow for Illuminating.

BH Paradise Primer

The hydrating primer is perfect for my older dry skin. It also does an amazing job of filling pores and fine lines. However, the illuminating primer adds the most beautiful, subtle glow. These two have quickly become my HG primers and I’m thrilled they are only $14.99!!

NYX Marshmellow Primer

Another winner is the NYC Marshmellow Primer $8 (mini size). It is infused with smoothing marshmallow root extract to smooth, soften, and extend makeup wear. It does minimize texture, blurs lines, adds a soft-focus finish, AND keeps makeup fresh. Though for me, I prefer the BH. The vegan formula has no animal-derived ingredients or by-products. NYX Professional Makeup products are proudly cruelty-free and PETA certified.

C'est Moi Sunscreen

After primer comes sunscreen, and I’m loving this new one from C’est Moi. Sunshine Mineral Sunscreen Lotion Broad Spectrum SPF 45 Water Resistant (40 minutes). This Mineral Zinc Oxide combined with an antioxidant blend protects skin from the sun while keeping our reefs safe and happy too! It blends easily, doesn’t have an awful smell, and doesn’t clog my pores. I love that it is water resistant (at least for a time).

C’est Moi has some fab products like their creme blushes and eyeshadow crayons. The line can be found at Target.

I haven’t included any foundation because I truly haven’t found a drugstore foundation that I really like. Milani, L’Oreal, Maybelline, NYX, Cover Girl, you name it. I would love suggestions for a drugstore foundation with a satin finish, a wide range of pale shades and that is long-lasting. Help a girl out, beauties!

On the days I decide to contour, I reach for this NYX 3C Conceal Correct Contour Palette $12. It comes in light, medium, and dark. I should have light, but I think I actually have medium which works.

First, it’s a cream product so the shades are easy-peasy to blend. Really all you have to do is remember that dark color recedes and light highlights. I run one of the darker shades along my jawline and the sides of my nose and the lighter shade on the tip of my nose.

C'esst Moi Flushed Lip & Cheek Gel

Next up is cheeks. These Flushed Lips and Cheek Sticks $12 are a next-level tinted lip + cheek balm that keeps your lips and cheeks flushed full of moisture with a vibrant pop of color. A cross between a cream and a gel, Tickled is a soft pink, Unfazed is mauve, and Charmed is a bright watermelon. They blend nicely and can be used for lips or cheeks. Here I have on Tickled.

If you don’t care for creams, Milani’s Rose Powder Blushes $10 are gorgeous and come in beautiful shades. Try their baked blushes for a more glowy blush.

Maybelline Total Temptation Eyebrow Definer Pencil $8. The teardrop applicator allows for precision brows. The only thing I don’t like about this is that it only comes in four colors. My shade is 316 deep brown and I have repurchased umpteen times. It lasts until YOU take it off!

Heavily swatched

Revlon So Fierce Prismatic Palette in 963 Slight Flex $11. Revlon’s suspended gel technology formula provides a bouncy texture and rich color without fallout. All day wear, crease-proof, and smudge-proof. I was drawn to this cute little palette by the colors: the pretty emerald green and the duochrome taupe/pink. Sadly this is a disappointment for me. The shadows are not pigmented when applied dry and applied wet they turn patchy. Too bad because I love the colors but the colors just barely show up on my eyes.

Revlon Colorstay Eyeliner $9. Eyeliner is another product I rarely buy at the drugstore and this purchase just solidified my decision. There is nothing wrong with this eyeliner and the shade I chose, Jade is a deep green. However, with so many fantastic, long-lasting eyeliners in the market, I’d rather pay a few more dollars for Pixi’s Silky Eye Pens. Pixi liners are creamy, smooth, waterproof, long-wearing and there are tons of beautiful colors.

Maybelline Sky High Mascara

Maybelline Sky High Mascara $12. No more high-end mascara for me! Before Sky High came out, I was using Maybelline Lash Sensational and that was good. Sky High is fabulous! I love the flex brush and wow does it make my lashes look loooong! No smudging, no flaking, no clumping. Repurchased many times.

NYX Lip Lingerie XXL Long Lasting Matte Liquid Lipstick $9. Wow! When they say this lipstick doesn’t transfer and is long-wearing, they mean it! You get full coverage in one swipe. Truthfully, I don’t care for matte lipstick on me, but I picked this up for the color and I actually like it! It doesn’t emphasize my lip lines or make my lips look old. Available in 24 shades, I chose Peach Flirt which is more of a terracotta on me. I will definitely pick up a few more colors.

C’est Moi Ticked, NYX Peach Flirt, Lip Lifter Topaz.

Maybelline Lip Lifter Gloss $9. I have three of these and I adore them! The shades are all very subdued and natural-looking, no stunners here. Some have fine shimmer, some not, but they should work for all skin tones. These are highly moisturizing thanks to the hyaluronic acid in the formula. Topaz looks perfect with NYX Peach Flirt. They smell great too!
