After five years of living in an apartment after my divorce, I finally moved into my own home early this summer. Whoohoo! It’s been so exciting, although expensive –I had to buy the necessities first like a washer and dryer, a few pieces of furniture and shrubs, landscaping, etc. Now that the practical stuff is taken care of I can move on to the fun stuff-decorating!! The house came with ugly, cheap plastic blinds so window coverings are top on my list to replace. Since I live in a cold climate, I’m looking for fashionable styles that also keep my home energy efficient and I’m counting on Décorview, an industry leader in interior design trends and custom window treatments, to help me!

Décorview designs, measures and installs custom Hunter Douglas window treatments. Décorview designers can provide in-home consultations and they even have a blog written by the designers with tip and ideas. How cool is that? Hiring a custom window treatment designer is a great idea and a valuable service. Their expertise and style sense will help you find the right fit for each and every window in your home, and you won’t have to cart samples back and forth from the local home improvement store. Whether you’re changing your décor, moved into a new home like me or just need an upgrade from your old blinds, their job to help you get the right fit at every step of the process.

I really need to punch up my windows with some bold color while still keeping within my current color scheme. For example, look at this pathetic dining room window:

Some of the top home decor trends I’m loving are neutral backgrounds with pops of color, softer muted neutrals like aqua, silvery gray and malted milk, geometric patterns and vintage design. Décorview and Hunter Douglas have incorporated these Pantone Colors into their window covering designs for 2014. Hunter Douglas also has some really cool motorized options that are on the that I love! Just imagine having a remote for your windows–awesome!!

In the kitchen and dining room, my color scheme is kinda weird, I have cream walls (almost pale yellow) and the pantry door is a light Cafe au Lait shade. The decor is a mix of the Misted Yellow, Aurora Red and Cypress pictured above. I’m thinking the Aurora Red might be a really nice shade to make the window coverings pop. I’m sure my consultant will help me choose the perfect option and I’m excited to see what’s available maybe something like the first picture in this post? What do you think?

  6. we’re redoing some stuff as we’re getting some new windows and a new door. at least one room will be repainted – and I just haven’t decided what to do yet!

  7. Those are lighter shades than I would pick for Fall so these are a refreshing change.

  8. I’m so bad at decorating. My house is mostly “post-college contemporary cardboard” mixed with accent of Dog goo.

  9. I love the shade in that first picture. Decorating is one of my favorite things to do! If my budget was endless I’d change things around constantly.
