Frugal Friday – Milani Illuminating Face Powder Lights Up My Life!

Roses are pink, violets are blue, I love Milani Illuminating Face Powders ($9.49) will you? Of course you will, who can resist roses? I’ll admit I don’t buy a lot of drugstore blushes. In fact blushes haven’t really been on my radar lately–I’ve been too busy obsessing over eye shadow and lipsticks. These face powders are going to change all that I can tell already.

Milani Face Powders are a triple threat and can be used as highlighters, blushes and bronzers. They are available in three shades, Amber Nectar, a warm coral/peach, Hermosa Rose, a bronzey rose and Beauty’s Touch, a cool mix of pinks. I purchased Amber Nectar (big surprise) but I would have bought all three if the Fred Meyer I went to had them in stock. Now I’m going to have the other two down, GRRRR.

The texture is soft but not so soft that they are too powdery to stick. Okay, so the roses are charming, the colors pretty… but it’s the finish that has me jumping and down with glee. I want all my blushes to have this finish–a cross between satin and shimmer. The result is a true GLOW that other products promise but don’t deliver. This is what I wanted Bobbi Brown Shimmerbricks to be but they turn into a glitterfest on the skin and NOT friendly to over 40 skin. A note to remember– pigmentation is good, however, this still is a drugstore product, don’t expect the pigment to mimic your mid to high end blushes. The pictures below took three swipes with a blush brush.

Milani Illuminating Face Powders are most definitely worth a look. There are no chunks of glitter or blatant shimmer, they impart a fresh youthful glow. Amber Nectar is warm, Beauty’s Touch is cool and Hermosa Rose is neutral and would work wonderfully as a bronzer as well. for $9.49 these are a welcome addition to any blush stash!

  1. My Fred Meyer didn’t have Beauty’s Touch; not even a spot for it in the display. I’m hoping I can find it at Walgreen’s, but picked up the other too in the meantime, explaining to my husband that I had it on good authority from a trusted blogger that these are a must for over 40. 🙂

  2. Oh my – sooooo pretty and Spring-ish! I may have to buy one!

  3. I have been wanting these three powders so badly since I first heard of them coming out about 2 months or so ago. I have been routinely stalking my local Kmart ever since, because that’s the only place in my small area that sells any Milani products. Unfortunately still no luck at finding any of the new Spring line from Milani at this point as of last Thursday… :((

  4. They are beautiful. I would love to have that someday
