Frugal Friday: Profusion Cosmetics Siennas Eyeshadow Palette

I’ve heard such wonderful things from my fellow bloggers about Profusion Cosmetics, when I saw a few of the eyeshadow palettes pop up at my local Walmart, I jumped on the Siennas Eyeshadow Palette $10. $10 for a 21-shade eyeshadow palette? I’m sooooooooooo there!

Purchased by me

Yes, it’s another warm mostly red/orange palette so if you’re tired of sunset shades quit reading right now. I’m as bored of warm eyeshadow palettes as I am of seeing Megan Markel on the cover of every magazine published. However, I’ve been wanting to try Profusion and…it’s only $10! Did I mention that? The palette is cruelty-free, at least it has a cruelty-free logo on the back of the palette. Can someone clarify that for me?

The Profusion Siennas palette contains 21 shimmer and matte eyeshadows and a dual-ended brush. I’m quite amazed at the quality of these shadows, no wonder my friends are impressed. The shimmers have a silky texture and plenty of pigment. The mattes are surprisingly smooth and that’s not an easy task. The palette does have more mattes than shimmers and I’m not mad about it. Oasis is a perfect terracotta, Devoted is a pretty cranberry with purple undertones, Daring a pretty brick shade and I enjoy the orange Dynasty a lot. My only complaint about the mattes is this: there are several that are very close in tone to each other so the palette doesn’t really need to have 21 shades. In my opinion, 4 or more matte shades could be eliminated. I wouldn’t mind an edited palette with maybe 15 shades.

The shimmers that stand out to me are Solstice, an amber orange, Dizzy, a pretty salmon pink, Certain, a vivid copper and Bite, a bold cranberry.

Though the shadows are warm-toned the palette isn’t one-note. There are several neutrals mixed with sunset shades and a few brights thrown in like Serendipity, a bright matte yellow, Bite, a bright shimmery cranberry, and Dynasty, a matte sunny orange. The only shades that aren’t very pigmented are Polite, a matte cream and Exclusive, a shimmery white/beige but then they aren’t supposed to be color dense–they are made for brightening.

Packaging is pretty nice for drugstore. The palette is plastic but it has a nice holographic design and a magnetic closure–nice touch for a drugstore price. It includes has a dual-ended synthetic brush that feels nice and soft. One end is a fluffy blending brush and the other is a flat brush for laying down color. I appreciate that the names of the eyeshadows are right underneath them, this is something you don’t often see even in high-priced palettes.

The shades blend beautifully and are highly pigmented. I’m going to use the Profusion swatches because they are much better than I could ever do!

Row 3 Siennas Palette

For this look I used Oasis in the crease, Bite on the lid, Cozy on the outer corner and under the lower lash line, Polite under the brow bone arch. I placed Exclusive on the inner corner.

For another look, I started again with Oasis in the crease, Certain on the lid, Groovy in the outer corner and to line upper lashes. I put a touch off Serendipty to blend out Oasis and Certain under my lower lash line. Exclusive under the brow bone and inner corner.

Bottom Line: the Profusion Siennas Eyeshadow Palette rivals higher-end brands for texture, pigment and quality! A fantastic buy for $10 if you’re not dog-tired of warm eyeshadow palettes.
