Frugal Friday – Revlon Colorburst Lip Gloss

I’ve always loved the Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Glosses and the Colorburst glosses claimed to pack more color so I thought I would give them go when they were BOGOF at Walgreen’s.  These glosses are pretty pigmented and seem more like a liquid lipstick than a gloss. I like the paddle applicator but not as much as the new Pretty Amazing Lipsticks from Bare Minerals–Revlon just slightly misses the mark–the applicator is just a tad too skinny. Revlon asserts that the gloss “makes lip pop with 5x more shine than patent leather.” Um…..not–the shine is average in my opinion. The texture is smooth and non-sticky and lasts an average amount of time for a gloss.

There are some very pretty shades ranging from nude to red brown–15 in all. However, not all shades are in all stores. Unfortunately there wasn’t a large selection at my Walgreens but I did pick up #14 Rosepearl and #0o8 Papaya. Rosepearl is a medium bronzey pink with micro glitter and Papaya is a peachy pale coral with pinky microglitter.  Some shades have glitter galore if that’s what your looking for.  There is slight fragrance but only if you sniff the wand–I cannot place the smell but it’s not appealing to me.

The packaging is trying to look like a Chanel glossimer and it definitely does looks more upscale than normal even if it is just plastic. Revlon Colorburst is a great gloss for the price, around $8 and an even greater bargain when you can get them on a buy one get one free or half off sale. I’d like to track down some of the brighter colors like Hot Pink, Fire and Strawberry.
