Givenchy Very Irrésistible Givenchy L’Intense

Looks like the relationship between Liv Tyler and Givenchy  has become more “intense.”

The lavish French fashion and beauty house launched Very Irrésistible Givenchy L’Intense last month — a follow-up fragrance to Very Irrésistible Givenchy. Liv is dressed in Givenchy ready-to-wear autumn 2010 collection, which includes leather pants and studded bracelets. The photo campaign is supposed to demonstrate the growth and maturation of a girl into a woman. The campaign was shot by the photographer Jean-Baptiste Mondino.

“The evolution of the marketing and products follows the evolution of Liv Tyler. When she was a post-teenager – around ‘Lord of the Rings’ – there was the Very Irrésistible Givenchy eau de toilette, which was fresh, very easy, very cool. Then came the eau de parfum. Now that she is a beautiful woman, her personality has blossomed, and we have L’Intense. It’s the brand responding to the icon, and the icon responding to the brand,” said Thierry Maman, managing director of Givenchy Parfums, in an interview with WWD.

The bottle is the same twisted elegant shape of Very Irrésistible Givenchy, but is an ombre ranging from purple to black with a beautiful silver rose design. The perfume itself is tinted with a pink hue, an unexpected and delightful surprise.

The musky floral chypre scent has prominent notes of purple plum, Turkish rose, white musks and patchouli. Givenchy’s description:

With the launch of Very Irrésistible Givenchy L’Intense, Givenchy is exalting the rose, capturing it with more intensity and making it darker than ever before.  Taking on a deeper, more voluptuous radiance in plum-like shades of purple, this Givenchy Eau de Parfum reveals a new facet of the flower’s primal femininity, tinged with a couture spirit. An intimate and assertive expression of Givenchy luxe, this scent is for a strong-willed muse with an intensely charismatic character and a disarming youthful energy.

At first spray L’Intense is just that–intense–it comes on stronger than the soft florals I tend to gravitate to. The result is floral with an edge, almost bittersweet and with more intensity than most rose scents I’ve tried. I like it! Very Irrésistible Givenchy L’Intense is for the modern woman; it manages to mix sexy and demur in a warm & floral fusion. I have soenjoyed wearing this fragrance–the sillage alone is enough to make me swoon. I’ve read a few reviews complaining the scent fades quickly–definitely not the case for me and I sometimes have an issue with florals. The florals, especially the rose becomes more obvious in the dry down.

Very Irrésistible Givenchy L’Intense is quite a revelation for me. I didn’t care for the previous two juices at all, but L’Intense has won my heart…. and my neck…. and wrists… With one exception, I would be brave enough to say this is the best fragrance I’ve experienced in all of 2010 and 2011 so far. Givenchy markets this fragrance as ‘rocker chick’  but I get a very different vibe. For me, tt typifies the woman I want to be; strong, confident, feminine, chic and sassy. Not afraid to got after what she wants, speak her mind, all wrapped up in cashmere and pearls. Beware of her feisty side; those 5-inch stilletos can trample you if provoked. I am reminded of my friend Elvira at PinkSith, she is sweet, funny and feminine but can take apart a car engine in a hot second. I’m sure she will like Very Irrésistible Givenchy L’Intense.
