June BoxyCharm Subscription Box!

Purchased by me

There was a time when I was inundated with beauty sub boxes. I had to have every new one that came along just to out of curiosity. Then I when I realized I was getting mostly sample sizes of things that ended up in the back of a drawer, I slowly canceled most of my subscriptions. However, in the last few months, I’ve read so many reviews of the BoxyCharm sub box and been so impressed I decided to try it myself. Spoiler Alert: June’s box is fabulous and I like every single item which is unheard of for me!

First, a little about the BoxyCharm Subscription. It costs $21/month but the value is much, much higher. June’s box has a value of $134! You will get 5-6 beauty items each month that include nail care, skin care, makeup, haircare, fragrance and more with at least 4 of those items being full-sized. The box ships to the US and Canada. Each box has a theme with a card detailing the items inside. You can cancel at any time.

June’s theme is Caribbean Queen with products to create a summer fun tropical look. Let’s get to it!

The first product is the Reina Del Caribe Eyeshadow Palette from Alamar $28. I’ve never heard of this brand but that’s what’s so fun about a sub box–getting to try new brands! The palette features 8 highly pigmented shadows expressing the color and culture of Cuba. There are 4 mattes and 4 shimmers. I love the mix of shades: there are both warm sunny shades and cool aquatic shades. The palette has a water drop next to the shades that can be applied wet for a more metallic look (shimmer) and a sun symbol on the shades that should be applied dry (matte). I found the eyeshadows to be nicely pigmented and easy to apply. I did get fallout with La Costa (shimmery icy pink) and El Malecon (shimmery pale yellow gold) but I kind of expected it because they are very metallic. The fallout wasn’t over the top so I’m not too bothered by it. Varadero (bright blue) and Celia (teal blue) are gorgeous and highly pigmented with a beautiful shimmer finish. Coco-Taxi is a pale orange (very similar to Orange Soda in the ABH Soft Glam palette), Tropico is a bold reddish orange, Guanta Namera (mulberry) and Cafecito (deep brown) are all mattes that perform well. I’m glad to have this palette in my collection!

For this eye look, I used La Costa on the brow bone, El Malecon on the lid, Coco-Taxi in the crease, Varadero on the upper lash line & Celia on the lower lash line and Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara.

These beautiful Battington Monroe Lashes $28 are 100% silk with multi-layers and a moderate length to add volume and length to your lashes. They are handmade and will last for 25 applications. This is my first set of silk lashes and truth be told, I suck at applying lashes so I didn’t want to ruin them with my amateur application so I don’t have a pic of me wearing them. I’m excited to try them though!

Luxie 3-pc. Brush Set $42. I haven’t had any new brushes in a long time so I’m excited to try these.

  • Luxie Rose Gold Precision Foundation 660 – works for both liquid + powder foundations
  • Luxie Rose Gold Tapered Highlighting Face Brush 522 –  works for highlighting + setting powder under your eyes
  • Luxie Rose Gold Duo Fiber Powder Brush 516 – works for applying both powder and cream makeup

These super soft synthetic, vegan brushes are good quality and what girly-girl can resist the pink and rose gold handles? I don’t have a specific brush for highlighting so I’m glad to get this one in the set. A lot of brush sets have one or two that you won’t use but I will use all 3 of these fantastic brushes!

Jonteblu Waterproof Eyeliner Pencil $5. This 100% vegan, waterproof eyeliner is a pretty charcoal gray color. Gray is a great color option for older women as black can be too harsh.

Ofra Long Lasting Liquid Lipstick $21. Ofra makes great lip products and this is no exception. The shade I got is Verona, a warm mocha brown. The color doesn’t suit me but I think I can make it work if I put a pink lip liner underneath. This has a matte finish but doesn’t make lips dry.

Sol De Janerio Brazilian Bum Bum Cream $10. Y’all know I ADORE Bum Bum Cream–the fragrance is amazing and the hydration is fabulous. It will be great to have this little travel size to take on my next trip or drop in my bag. I love the new Sol De Janerio products just as much, check out my review here.

Overall: I am thrilled with my first BoxyCharm Box, I love everything in it.  There is good news too! The waitlist has been suspended for a limited time so if you want to sign up, you will get the July box next! If you do sign up, please do me a favor and use my code Cindy-QOBTMZMC at check out. That is another perk from BoxyCharm: you can refer friends and earn ‘charms’ then redeem those charms for products.
