Just in time for winter and dry skin woes, Karité Shea Butter announces the newest addition to their skincare collection, Crème Corps Hydrating Body Cream ($46). This decadent, dermatologist-developed, hypo-allergenic moisturizer features 30% raw, unrefined shea butter sourced from Ghana, organic unrefined coconut oil, sunflower seed oil and an antioxidant-rich blend of rosemary and West African rooibos. In addition, a unique technology eliminates the need for irritating chemicals and helps soothe and repair even the driest, most sensitive skin. This intensely hydrating body cream is sustainably sourced and supports the livelihood of rural African women and their communities. I love when brands have a social conscience!

This body butter is very rich and thick yet it melts into skin fully after a few rubs, moisturizes deeply and does NOT leave me feeling greasy.  I was very ill for a few weeks and applying body butter was not a priority. Between the cooler weather and neglecting my skin, my legs are super dry and my arms are almost as bad. A few days of using Karité Shea Butter Crème Corps Hydrating Body Cream has my skin feeling soft and smooth. I did a little test and wore the body cream on one of my arms and not the other. After spending the day with my sister I asked her to touch each of my arms and see if there was a difference. She said the arm with the body cream on it was soft and the other felt rough. I rest my case. My legs were so dry they had begun to itch and that is no longer the case. I should mention there is a light earthy type scent that does linger. I like it but if you are sensitive to scents it could be bothersome.

Karité Shea Butter Crème Corps Hydrating Body Cream is pricey but the jar is a huge 5.5 fl.oz. and Karité is committed to offering only the highest quality, highest concentration of shea butter. Couple that with helping African women with their factory in Ghana and the price is justified. Karité is also a member of the Global Shea Alliance. Based in Ghana, this non-profit association works to promote sustainability, quality practices and industry standards.

  7. It’s great that they are part of the Global Shea Alliance. I love when companies give back to help farmers and take part in other sustainability projects. It’s weird because I never get dry skin anywhere but on my face. But I imagine this cream is really nice if you’re prone to dry skin.
