Le Metier de Beaute Indian Summer Collection

Just when summer seems to be winding down, there it is again, making a final attempt to keep the temperatures up and the days from getting shorter. Indian Summer, when summer and fall meet for a brief, but gorgeous moment, the inspiration for Ken Downing’s Indian Summer Collection with Le Métier de Beauté for summer 2012.

“There is just something about the seasons mingling, when the nights begin to cool and the dog days of summer have gone to rest – bronzed skin lingers, but the shades of fall make their debut.” explains Ken Downing, Neiman Marcus’s Fashion Director. “It always brings me back to that Bianca Jagger, 1970’s Halston moment. It wasn’t just the clothing, it wasn’t just the makeup, it was how it all came together, so carefree, bohemian and easy. That is Indian Summer.”

This sultry mix is the inspiration for Ken Downing’s summer collection with Le Métier de Beauté, Indian Summer. “A summer dress with tawny, coral makeup – it’s so simple and perfect” says Downing. “Shades of bronze, orange, gold, they look gorgeous on every woman and every skintone”

Ken Downing’s Indian Summer hues evoke the warm, dreamy feel of the end of the season. Coat fingers and toes in Penny Lane Nail Lacquer ($18), a bold burnt orange reminiscent of the dark skin tones of women sun bathing in Ibiza, or drench nails in the brighter-than-bright Wild Ginger Nail Lacquer to liven up a sleepy July afternoon.

Penny Lane and Wild Ginger Nail Lacquers remind me of  summer oranges and clementines–vibrant and juicy!  Wild Ginger is a bright, fresh fun orange. I wondered if it would suit my pale skin but I got TONS on this nail polish! Seriously, everywhere I went people commented on my nails and two coats is all it took! Penny Lane is my choice for an Indian Summer look. It’s more of a burnt orange and ideal for entry into the fall when you still want to hang on to summer a bit.

I used a top coat with these and they the finish is so great I really didn’t need to. In fact, I think it almost made them TOO shiny! It was hard to take pictures and not get a reflection so I apologize if the pics are not great, the polishes are!!!

Le Metier de Beaute nail lacquers are fortified with strengthening proteins and hydrators; they delivers rich, glossy, long-wearing color.

  • Truly intense, multidimensional color.
  • Resists chipping up to 14 days.
  • Won’t fade, dull or streak, even in strong sunlight.
The collection also includes a Lip Creme Set for $65
Ginger Snap is a sparkly warm peach and Copper Leaf is a dark, metallic warm coppery/orange.  To my eye, Ginger Snap looks to be similiar to Peche Creme but with more pink and fairly sheer. Copper Leaf is darker and much more pigmented. I debated about purchasing this set but I’m a little afraid Copper Leaf may be too intense for me. However, as with all Le Metier de Beaute  products, they are meant for layering. Check out Messy Wands to see how she layered these two. I do love the Lip Creme formula……

Ken Downing for Le Metier De Beaute Collections are available exclusively at Neiman Marcus, neimanmarcus.com (free shipping through 07/31/12 at 11:59 PM CT with code: JULYFS) and Bergdorf Goodman for $18 each.
