Purchased by me

The Lorac Pro Palette 3 is a new addition to the Lorac Pro Eyeshadow Palette series. #3 features 8 shimmer and 8 matte shades of eyeshadows for a total of 16 neutral shades packed into one beautiful palette. If LORAC’s Pro 1 and Pro 2 were too dark for you, these shades are better suited to fairer skin tones.

The Lorac Pro Palette 3 launched at Ulta.com in June and as a Platinum Member, I was able to purchase it early, Yes, it’s been hanging around that long waiting for me to get to it! Sorry Pro 3!

The palette comes with a Mini Behind the Scenes Eye Primer which is a nice bonus. I like this primer a lot so I will always welcome a trial size and you will need it for these shadows. The palette is the standard slimline sturdy cardboard in a creamy beige complete with a mirror.

Shades include:

  • Top Row (Matte): Blanc, Canvas, Cool Taupe, Pink Nude, Clay, Terracotta, Dark Brown, Jet Black
  • Bottom Row (Shimmer): Light Gold, Almond Pearl, Medallion, Light Pewter, Amethyst, Rose Bronze, Dark Mocha, Truffle

I divided up the shadows into 3 sections of 6 shadows for my swatches. In the first section is Blanc, a matte vanilla, Canvas, a matte yellow beige, Cool Taupe, a matte taupe brown, Lt. Gold, a light peach with a pearly sheen and Almond Pearl, a shimmery light tan and Medallion, a shimmery warm bronze. Medallion is a gorgeous shade with tons of fallout. It’s loosely packed and kicks up a lot of powder making me angry because it’s one of the best shades in the palette! Lt. Gold also has some fallout and Almond Pearl goes on very sheer. Extremely disappointing.

Mattes: Pink Nude is not pink at all but another peachy matte, Clay is a muted brown with red undertones and Terracotta is a warm orangey/brown. Shimmers: Lt. Pewter is a warm taupe, Amethyst, a deep plum mixed with brown and more of a satin finish than shimmery. Rose Bronze is a light frosty bronze with slight rose undertones. Lt. Pewter and Rose Bronzes are favs but don’t grab your brush like they should and have some fallout. You will definitely need a primer with a tacky base to keep them in place.

Section 3:

Dark Brown is a warm, matte well….dark brown! Jet Black is a deep, matte black. Dark Mocha is a shimmery dark brown with subtle gold flecks. Truffle is a soft black that applies patchy.

Bottom Line: Some of my favorite eyeshadow palettes are from LORAC for their buttery, creamy texture and stunning shades. The LORAC Unzipped and Unzipped Gold are top of my list and get a lot of use!  It pains me to say this but sadly, the Pro Palette 3 is disappointing. I realize I am in the minority with my opinion of this palette but for $44 from a reliable brand I expect better performance. The shadows are TOO powdery and kick up a lot of dust and the shimmery shades do have some fallout. If you own either unzipped palettes you can safely skip Pro 3. If you’re looking for a great neutral palette, there are other choices that perform better.

  1. I like this palette. LORAC Pro palettes tend to be a little powdery but I don’t have any trouble with them performing well for me. 🙂

  2. Allison @neversaydiebeauty says

I bought one for me and one to give as a gift. I haven’t opened mine yet!

  3. I think I would not like the Lorac formula.

  4. That’s disappointing that it’s powdery. Some of my favorite shades go on like butter so I will skip this.

  5. It’s too bad that it’s so powdery. It’s probably easy to burn through your favorite color because of that.

  6. I love this palette and I like that it has an alternative matte color from the shimmers too. I prefer matte especially during the summer!

  7. Kendra Williams says

I love the color palette, but if they are too powdery that won’t work for me.

  8. I’m so glad to read this since I was considering it. I was afraid that the shades would be too light but what I’m coming away with is that they have too much fallout for me. Scratched off my list.

  9. Travel Blogger says

Oh I love the colors! Especially those shimmery bronze colors.

  10. This palette is so lovely!

  11. Lorac has such great palettes, and they always “make sense”.

  12. Robin Rue says

This is such a beautiful set of colors. I love all the neutrals and also the shimmers a lot.

  13. Those are such great colors in that palette. I love the golds. Those are the colors that I usually use.

  14. Awww it’s a shame that the formula doesn’t seem to live up to the rest of the Pro Palettes

  15. Colours look great, Never tried the Lorac brand before. Mind you I am a find what works for you stick to it kind of person!

  16. Aleya Bamdad says

The palette s pretty but not worth it if it doesn’t perform.

  17. Nicole Cochingco Escat says

Wow, I love this palette! Wonderful colors, but I don’t like dusty shadows!

  18. Nicole Etolen says

This is a very colorful palette but sounds like the experienced is not well. I like eye shadows in gel form than in this type.

  19. CourtneyLynne Storms says

This palette sounds pretty fab!!!! Lorca makes my all time favorite face power so I will have to check this out!

  20. Lisa Marie Heath says

I really like the shades in this palette! Too bad the performance wasn’t as great

  21. Bummer that it didn’t work out for you! I bought it, too, but I’ve only used it once. I didn’t have the same experience as you – I really liked the light, shimmery look I created with it.

  22. Not sure about the dusty shadows but I am loving the rest even though it some of it was disappointing.
