This week our Makeup Wars bloggers are yaking about their favorite mascaras. I am so down. I have kind of made it personal mission to try every mascara on the planet. It’s the one makeup item I feel naked without. I currently have 6 mascaras open. For realz.

Oh, I admit I used to be a mascara snob wearing only luxury brands like Chanel, Dior, YSL, etc. at $30 a tube. Drugstore brands like L’Oreal, Maybelline and Revlon have improved so much I haven’t touched a luxury brand is years!  You will see a mix of drugstore and mid-range brands as my favorites now. Let’s get started!

Maybelline Lash Sensational is my current drugstore love. The patented fanning brush with 10 layers of bristles reveals a full flourish of lashes.  There is absolutely no flaking,  smudging or clumping. The formula is on the wet side which I prefer because it makes separating lashes easy peasy. This mascara also builds volume and length and does not leave my lashes feeling dry.

Make Up For Ever Smoky Extravagant – holds a curl beautifully. The cone shaped wand gets those tiny lashes in the corner. Volume AND length!  If you want amazing length, decent volume and ultra black pigment, make sure to try Make Up For Ever Smoky Extravagant mascara! Read my full review here.

L’Oreal Voluminous Butterfly Mascara is named for the “Butterfly” brush. The revolutionary Butterfly Brush with asymmetrical lash line shape extends and lifts outer corner lashes to give you a winged-out effect, instantly volumizing lashes at the roots and stretching lashes outward. It has a great formula, gives lovely fluffy, fanned out lashes and ticks all my boxes! If you are looking for high drama, look elsewhere. Read my full review here.

bareMinerals Lash Domination Mascara has an exclusive ProTwist180™ Wand that is spiraled 180 degrees to curve around lashes and coat from all angles with intense black color. The bristles do a great job of separating lashes and the formula adds lot of length too. It doesn’t smudge or flake and holds a curl. I also like to layer lash domination over Flawless Definition mascara for a va-va-voom look.

tarte Gifted Amazonian Clay Smart Mascara  instinctively lengthens, conditions, repairs and replenishes dry and brittle lashes. tarte Lights, Camera and Lashes is an all time fave of mine too.

Eddie Funkhouser Quattro Variable Lash Mascara What makes this mascara so unique is that the coverage is variable; it has four different settings. At the top of the mascara tube are dots–by turning the handle to the different dots, you change the shape of the brush. Genius, right? The idea is to be able to customize your look. I often use two mascaras to layer; one for separating and one for volume. With this mascara you can apply one coat at the one dot level then add another layer to pump up the volume with the dot four level–no more using two mascaras!

  2. I’m loving Urban Decay Perversion right now! I used to be very stuck on a Jordana one – I can’t remember the name.

  3. I just discovered MUFE Smoky Extravagant (I got a sample somehow) and I am OBSESSED! it’s still a bit pricey compared with my drugstore favs, but it does the job in less strokes, I swear. I love it. Great picks!!!

  4. I picked the MUFE too! I LOVE that mascara.

  5. I dig L’Oreal Butterfly, UD Perversion, Cover Girl Clump Crusher… I had a deluxe sample of D&G Passion Eyes… Boy was that fabulous mascara. I’m debating splurging on a full size.
