We all crave that flawless finish. You know the kind of look you see in magazines and on TV. Unfortunately, we can’t all be airbrushed or lit just so. Instead, we need real life solutions like the Mally Evercolor Poreless Face Defender, $40.

No matter how many times I try a product from Mally Beauty, I’m continually impressed. The brand always delivers on color payoff, longevity, and innovation. The Evercolor Poreless Face Defender is so exception. Perhaps that’s why it’s a best-seller.

How the Evercolor Poreless Face Defender Works

The Face Defender uses a unique technology to diffuse the look of pores and fine lines. It also helps your makeup last all day or all night. When I first opened the gorgeous and very sturdy lavender packaging I wasn’t sure what to make of the Face Defender. The translucency threw me a bit, hence why it ended up with a large indent from my nail. Once I felt the texture, I was reminded of an old favorite, Benefit’s Dr. FeelGood.

Mally Poreless Defender Usage

Like Dr. FeelGood, the Evercolor Poreless Face Defender has a soft, yet firm silicone texture. It also comes with a sponge for application purposes. I really like the thickness and shape of the Face Defender sponge. It allows me to get into all the nooks and crannies of my face. Plus, it has a great density and pliability.

Applying the Evercolor Poreless Face Defender

To get a good feel for how the product would work, I tested it out with both foundation and BB cream. After my makeup was applied, I swirled the sponge in the Face Defender and then softly patted the product on my face. Though the Face Defender looks and feels like a primer, it is designed to be used after makeup application. Because of this, I was careful to pat the product into my skin as opposed to swiping it on, which would remove my makeup.

Mally Wear

I instantly noticed my skin had a diffused look to it. It was almost as if I had used a setting powder, except without the powdery finish. While my skin looked smooth and flawless, it was a little more matte than I like. This is a personal preference and not a negative against the product. I have dry skin, so I’m always looking for products to add a dewy, glowing finish, as opposed to a matte finish.

Regardless of whether I used the Face Defender with a foundation or a BB cream, the results were always the same. My skin looked matte all day long and my foundation/BB cream stayed on all day. My blush and highlighter didn’t wear as long, but that was only because I tend to touch my face a lot when I’m struggling with a piece I’m writing or am stressed.

Overall: If you’re looking to diffuse pores, minimize fine lines, and extend the longevity of your makeup, then the Mally Evercolor Poreless Face Defender, $40, is a must have. It doesn’t irritate the skin or leave you looking powdery or ashy. The product delivers a matte finish that works best for oily, normal, and combination skin. While it also works on dry skin, I would suggest skipping the Face Defender, especially if you prefer a dewier finish.
