Neutrogena Sun Care and the Long Live Skin Campaign!

This post is sponsored by Neutrogena®, however, all thoughts and opinions are my own. #advicetomyyoungerself

Now that summer is here, it’s time to think about sun care. Ever since I started this blog 7 years ago, I have been preaching safe sun care. I grew up in Southern California during the “baby oil days”, I’m pretty fair and I’ve had my share of bad sunburns–once even a blistering one. Add to that the fact that I lived in Arizona for 10 years and I am paying for the sins of youth. In fact, I have had several basal cell carcinomas in the last few years. They have all been pre-cancerous but I still have had to endure the burn and scrape curettage method of prevention and that has left scars–especially on my delicate decolletage. Now, I NEVER go without at least a 30 SPF sunscreen–rain or shine and get a skin check from my dermatologist every six months.

According to the American Cancer Society, skin cancer is the most common cancer type in the US but YOU can help to change that. From 6/18-6/24,  purchase any Neutrogena® or Aveeno® product with SPF and $1 will be donated to the American Cancer Society to help prevent skin cancer up to $100,000! In addition, CVS is removing all sun care products with SPF lower than 15 from its shelves, and replacing them with 30 new SPF+/broad spectrum products that either meet or exceed FDA standards. This effort is known as CVS’s “Long Live Skin” campaign. The initiative is meant to increase awareness around skin health.

Neutrogena, the sun care leader, wants you to live a sun safe life that starts at a young age and continues for a lifetime. These are two products I cannot live without in the summer.

NEUTROGENA® ULTRA SHEER® Liquid Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 70 ($12.49). According to a recent survey, only 13% of American adults apply sunscreen daily. It’s not surprising when so many sunscreens can feel greasy on the face, especially when layered under makeup. Between that and leaving a white cast, I used to hate putting sunscreen on my face. NEUTROGENA ULTRA SHEER Liquid Sunscreen has a lightweight, water-like formula that feels weightless and it layers invisibly under makeup, making it perfect for everyday wear. Dry-Touch and HELIOPLEX® technology, leaves skin feeling soft with a sheer, matte finish and provides long-lasting photo-stable UVA/UVB protection.  It’s water and sweat-resistant and Non-comedegenic so it doesn’t clog my pores or cause breakouts.

NEUTROGENA® ULTRA SHEER® Body Mist Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 30, 45, 70 and 100+ ($9.99-12.49). For my body, I use the body mist in at least a 45 SPF. I really wish that sunscreen mists would have been available when I was in my teens, I could have avoided so many nasty sunburns! The one-touch continuous spray works at any angle making it easy-peasy to protect hard to reach areas like behind the knees, ears, back, etc. It is water-resistant and sweat-resistant for and incredible 80 minutes! Don’t forget to reapply!! This is perfect to keep in my beach bag for picnics and boating. I keep another in the house for gardening, walking the dog and any times I’m outdoors. Just like the liquid ULTRA SHEER, it is formulated with HELIOPLEX® Technology, a breadth of stabilizing sunscreen technologies that deliver superior protection from UVA/UVB protection. Non-comedogenic and oil and PABA-free. This is also great for kids–no mess and it’s quick and easy. It also has a light, fresh scent!

If only I could go back in time and tell my younger self that a tan is not worth the very high possibility of cancer. Whether you’re at the beach or just sitting near a window in your office, applying sunscreen regularly, it is vital to maintaining healthy skin, and it can actually save your life! I wish I knew this when I was in my teens but we didn’t know then. Not all broad spectrum sunscreens offer the same protection benefits, that’s why I trust Neutrogena Sun Care, it’s the #1 Dermatologist recommended sun care brand!

Not all broad spectrum sunscreens offer the same protection benefits, that’s why I trust Neutrogena Sun Care, it’s the #1 Dermatologist recommended sun care brand. Neutrogena also has sunscreens for baby, for sports enthusiasts and an oil-free moisture lotion. In my younger days I was a great example of what NOT to do, so please take it from someone who HAS pre-cancer, WEAR SUNSCREEN! If you like the look of bronzed skin, use a self tanner, there are some great ones available.

I’m curious about the new Ultra Sheer liquid. I am waiting for a Korean water gel sunscreen to arrive, and if it’s not what I’m hoping it is, I’ll be trying the Ultra Sheer Liquid from Neutrogena

I’m all about sun protection. That’s what I tell my patients every single day whether or not they’re doing aesthetic procedures

  3. Melissa Chapman says

I have always loved Neutrogena products and trust them. I am so glad they have a sun care line and I will definitely look for it this summer.

  4. Neutrogena is the only sun care line that I will buy. Years ago I tried out their kids wet skin line, and fell in love! Been hooked ever since!

  5. I was actually just out on my parent’s boat the other day, and I lathered myself and kids up and watched my sister cover herself in tanning oil. I would rather be my casper self than be burnt and get skin cancer. My mom has had skin cancer removed and she is a product of Miami in the 70’s where they just bathed in baby oil.

  6. I wish I could go back to undo the damage that was done in my youth. Our parents didn’t know better but we definitely do. I always use SPF and make sure my babies do too.

  7. I haven’t seen the body mist version! I’m going to get some for our upcoming trips. I regret not using sunscreen more as a teen and in my 20s.

I’m sorry that you’ve had to undergo those procedures. I also grew up in the baby oil/tanning oil days and it’s come back to bite me with all the sun/age spots on my face. It’s always difficult for me to find a facial sunscreen that hits all my requirements – non-greasy, no white cast, at least SPF 30. Thanks for letting me know about this one!

  9. I’m so sorry that you’ve had to go through that but great news that they were pre-cancerous. I think suncare is so important, I need to get into an even better routine with it x

  10. If only we can go back and undo all the things we do as a teenager to damage our skin in the name of beauty. Sorry to hear you went through all of that. I’m a huge believer of skin protection and I use Neutrogena all the time.

  11. TheMummyToolbox says

skin care is so important and definitely good to learn this from a young age so that you don’t do irreversible damage now

  12. I am looking for a good sunscreen that doesn’t smell like a sunscreen and provides the coverage I need for my age. You went through a lot. Hugs and well wishes.

  13. I just bought the sunscreen stick yesterday. My kids prefer to use this on their faces and then I use the spray on their bodies.

  14. Amanda Love says

Neutrogena is a brand that I’ve come to love and it’s always going to be a staple at home. I think these are great. It’s important to make sure that we apply sunscreen before leaving the house.

  15. Reesa Lewandowski says

I just Neutrogena for myself and for my kids for sunscreen! I love the stick for the kid’s faces and I love how it doesn’t make me break out!

  16. I’m usually so cautious about sun care, but last week we went to a theme park and I forgot the sunscreen. I am STILL paying for it! I’ve always liked Neutrogena products.

  17. To be honest, I rarely use sunscreen. I’m not the sun bathing type and whenever summer comes around, I’m always lacking vitamin D so I just let it be. I can definitely see the importance if you’re in the sun a lot though or if you want to sun bathe.

  18. Jeanine @ sixtimemommy.com says

I am a huge neutropenia fan. I usually neglect myself where my skin care/sun screen are concerned so I need to really buckle down. I’ll give this a try.

  19. I didn’t know Neutrogena made sunscreen. Next time I go to the store I will check it out.

  20. Sun care is so important! We live in Arizona where it’s always shorts and flip flop weather. With a backyard pool we spend most of our summer outside. My girls know they aren’t allowed outside without sunscreen!

  21. Brittany Muddamalle says

I love their stuff so much. I have three boys with very sensitive skin and their sunscreen has always worked well! Not to mention it’s all I personally use too!

  22. Nayantara Hegde says

Neutrogena has some great products. It is so noble that they are donating proceeds to a worthy charity.

  23. CourtneyLynne Storms says

I just love nuetrogina products!!!! They are always a safe buy for me since they are pretty good quality. I know what I’m getting!
