Review: Fortune Cookie Soap 2015 Spring Soap Box

Fortune Cookie Soap Card

by Blythe A

Purchased by me

No matter what your interest, there is a subscription box out there for you. Besides loving all things beauty, I adore bath and body products. Last year, I discovered a way to indulge that adoration, thanks to fellow Blogger and YouTuber Jennifer Ross, through Fortune Cookie Soap’s Soap Box Program.

If you’re not familiar with Fortune Cookie Soap, they are a bath and body company started by a husband and wife team. Based in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Fortune Cookie Soap features all natural products made in small batches, which makes them truly unique. Their Fortune Cookie Soap Boxes, $19.99/quarter, are delivered straight to my door four times per year, and feature around eight full size or deluxe size samples of some of their newest seasonal products.

Welcome to Wonderland…Beware the Bandersnatch

One of my favorite things about this box is that each quarter features a different and very unique theme. For instance, their 2014 Winter Box, which happens to be my favorite so far, was influenced by National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, and each product had a hilarious name and description. This spring’s box was influenced by Alice in Wonderland, and is aptly titled Wonderland, and also features uniquely named products and descriptions.

Each box comes with a card that provides a full list of the products in the box, as well as a $10 off code that can be used at their quarterly launch party, or to purchase products from their site.

 Soap  & Hand Sanitizer

The Fortune Cookie Soap is a staple of every box, and like all the other soaps I’ve received, they each come with a fortune. In keeping with the theme, mine said, “Eat Me.” I love the way these soaps smell and look next to my sink. Even though they are almost too pretty to use, I still do, especially since each time I do use them my bathroom smells delightful.

Fortune Cookie Soap“Almost Alice” – Fortune Cookie Soap

I’d rather be almost Alice than completely Bob – or Stan for that matter! Fresh green snap peas and juicy pears brighten this bouquet of sweet pea flowers, and freesia, sprinkled with ripe berries.

Another full size staple in every box is their OCD, which is essentially a hand sanitizer, except this one smells amazing. I don’t know how they do it, but the OCD never has that alcohol smell, yet it leaves my hands feeling clean and refreshed, but not too dry.

Playful mint waters and natural leafy green notes perform a masterful balancing act with musky rich cedar wood.

 Bath Products

 FC Bath

“Twisted Tea Party” – Bath Tea

This sounds like my kind of party, as long as you’re serving Long Islands! A light, refreshing, green tea with notes of sweet herbs, vanilla bean, cucumber, golden amber, and hints of neroli and geranium, stirred with a bright sprig of spearmint.

“Off With Their Heads!” – Bath Bomb

I just love my morning coffee and executions, don’t you? Groves of Meyer lemons and succulent oranges mingle with a perfectly manicured garden of wild roses, violets, and star jasmine perfumed with romantic tones of bergamot and Egyptian musk.

This quarter I was excited to see some fun bath  items, such as the bath tea and the bath bomb. I haven’t had a chance to use the bath tea, but I can’t wait. It is the embodiment of spring.

I didn’t conduct any morning executions when I used the bath bomb, but I definitely enjoyed a few moments of relaxation surrounded by the tiny floating rose petals from the product.

Body Wash and Body Cream

Of the two body products included in the spring box, the Fudderwacken body wash was my favorite. I may not like to eat grapefruit, but I love the scent it provides in my shower. The It’s Only a Dream cream was a bit earthy for me, but it did make me think about the scents Alice might have come across during her times in Wonderland.

“Fudderwacken”– Body Wash

Not here! Everyone’s watching! Sun warmed lilies brightened with a splash of grapefruit and a breath of fresh air.

“It’s Only a Dream” – Whipped Cream

Welcome to Wonderland, where playing cards come to life and everything is full of nonsense. Calming verbena, lemongrass, calla lily, and citrus blended with leafy greens, ylang-ylang, rosewood, and ozone; with hints of soft musk and roses.

 Unique Additions

For the past couple of boxes, Fortune Cookie Soap has included perfume oils, and I have to say, I think they are a great addition to the box. The Eat Me oil smells good enough to eat,and  the notes of pineapple and vanilla complement each other perfectly.

FC Perfume OIl

“Eat Me”– Perfume Oil

I dare you…but not really, your tummy would hurt. Scrumptious yellow cake with a fresh slathering of rich, creamy vanilla frosting, topped with fresh white pineapple slices and garnished with a sprig of blooming cilantro.

The newest and most unique item in the box this month was the incense cones. I think even the Cheshire cat would approve. They are the perfect mix of sweet and earthy. I’ve already burned one, but I may keep the rest in their muslin bag and use as a sachet, as the card suggests.

FC Incense

“Who Are You?”– Incense Cone…what exactly are you smoking, vapor?

A mysterious mixture of crisp, ripe, pear twisted with tart limes, vanilla orchid, and a dash of raw cane sugar.

Bottom line: Fortune Cookie Soap Box is a great way to indulge your senses and your love of bath and body products. At $19.99 per quarter, it is also an amazing deal. The spring box is currently sold out, but there is time to sign-up for the summer box. I can’t wait to see what they have in-store for next season.

  1. I remember Phyrra reviewing this brand last year, and it certainly is intriguing. Alice in Wonderland was my favorite childhood book, so this would have been a good one for me. I also like that they have perfume oils since oils work better on me. For $20 a quarter, I may have to sign up for that summer box.

    • I don’t know how they offer the box for such a great price. Most quarterly boxes are more expensive, but I think their model encourages people to buy the products after they try it. If you do sign-up, I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

  2. I would really love this box! So far, I’m liking everything I see.

  3. I read so many rave reviews about this company! Certainly makes me want to try out the service.
