Though the holidays are months away, many brands are beginning to show sneak peaks of their holiday offerings on social media. I’ve already put a few things on my wish list. One brand’s holiday collection I look forward to exploring is It Cosmetics, especially after trying out their Naturally Pretty Celebration Matte Luxe Transforming Eyeshadow Palette, originally $42, which was part of their 2014 Holiday Collection. I adore everything about this palette, from the packaging to the transforming ombre radiance ribbon.

The Packaging

The sparkly, glittery packaging is so much fun. It calls out to you, and makes you want to use it again and again. Plus, I love how every time it catches the light, it glows like a rainbow, which for some reason makes me think of Cyndi Lauper’s “True Colors.”

Besides it sparkle, the packaging is made from heavy cardboard, and features a magnetic closure, along with a good size mirror. The palette isn’t too bulky either, and I think it would work great for travel.

The Shadows

The palette might be glittery on the outside, but don’t let that fool you. All fourteen shadows inside are matte, except for the transforming ombre radiance ribbon, which allows you to transform any matte shadow into a more shimmery color.

The shadows are talc and paraben free, as well as cruelty free. Infused with collagen, each anti-aging shadow can be worn wet or dry, and as shadows or liners, which makes them perfect for eyes of all ages. After wearing them on several different occasions, I can more than attest to their anti-aging properties. They don’t crease or look powdery, apply and blend easily, and have great lasting power.

The ombre ribbon is fun to play with. It really does transform the matte shadows into more shimmery shadows. (see final swatch picture above) In essence, instead of 14 shadows, you actually have 28 to work with, or 56 if you used them matte, dry, wet and ombred, which is why I’m so glad to have it as part of my collection.

Unfortunately, the palette was limited edition, and is no longer available. However, IT Cosmetics does have a permanent eyeshadow palette in their collection, the Naturally Pretty Vol. 1 Matte Luxe Transforming Eyeshadow Palette, $42. This palette has the same features, only with different matte shadows and a transforming pearl ribbon, instead of a ombre ribbon. I went to my local Ulta to check it out as a comparison to the Celebration palette, and after avoiding the very nosy sales girl, I was able to swatch a few of the shadows. (Usually I have to search for someone to help me at Ulta, but this time I had to avoid the girl at the end of the aisle.)

Both palettes come in the same type of packaging; though the Vol. 1 palette features a soft pink cover (not pictured because the one at the store was a little too well loved). I found the shadows in both palettes to have the same texture, consistency, color payoff, and blendability. It would make a great addition to any makeup collection.

Bottom line:  The IT Cosmetics Naturally Pretty Celebration Matte Luxe Transforming Eyeshadow Palette has quickly become one of my favorite palettes. Although it is no longer available, you can still purchase the Naturally Pretty Vol. 1 Matte Luxe Transforming Eyeshadow Palette, $42, which is more than worth the price. Or you can wait till IT Cosmetics comes out with their 2015 holiday collection. Hopefully, they will release a new Celebration palette this year.
