Thanks to subscription boxes, I’ve been lucky enough to try a few Jane Iredale products. As a huge fan of the brand’s Just Kissed Lip and Cheek Stain, which I carry in my makeup bag,  I was thrilled to have the opportunity to try a few new products, including the Lip Drink® Lip Balm with SPF 15, and Limited Edition Golden Shimmer Face and Body Lotion.

Jane Iredale, named after the founder herself, was founded in 1994. It was one of the first makeup line in the industry to contain quality minerals and skin care ingredients that are good for your skin and create that healthy glow we all crave. Plus, all Jane Iredale products are cruelty-free, hypoallergenic and dermatologists tested.

Lip Drink® Lip Balm with SPF 15 – $15

Jane Iredale’s Lip Drink® Lip Balm has grown from one shade to a three shade collection. In addition to the Sheer shade, you can also choose from two new tinted lip balms.

Buff – a sheer nude

Crush – a sheer berry

This collection was designed to leave your lips feeling hydrated and protected thanks to a combination of waxes, oils, antioxidants, green tea extract, vitamins E and C, and SPF 15. In fact, the Skin Care Foundation recommends the collection as an effective sunscreen for your lips. I love that this lip balm contains sunscreen. It is easy to forget that our lips just don’t need to look and feel good, but also need to be protected from the harmful rays of the sun.

I found the Lip Drinks to be very hydrating and soothing to the lips. You can definitely feel the product on your lips, but not in a heavy or sticky way. The new color choices are sheer, but buildable, and give your lips a nice subtle hint of color. The lemon scent is refreshing, but not overpowering. However, I will say that if you are really sensitive to scents, you might not like these lip balms.

Limited Edition Golden Shimmer Face and Body Lotion – $32

Just in time for summer the Golden Shimmer Face and Body Lotion is back. This light reflecting sheer lotion creates a subtle veil of shimmer designed to warm and smooth your complexion. You can wear it alone or pair it with your foundation, use it as your highlight, or pair with your self-tanner.  The lotion is hypoallergenic and non-comedogenic, and contains botanical extracts that help to rejuvenate and hydrate.

According to the brand, the Shimmer Lotion contains several benefits, including:

  •  Pyrus malus (apple) fruit extract rejuvenates the skin with its firming and smoothing benefits, while restoring the skin’s moisture balance and protecting from moisture loss.
  • Elderflower and blackberry extracts cool and soften the skin.
  • Green and white extracts are antioxidants that protect the skin from environmental damage.
  • Grapefruit and orange peel extracts brighten and illuminate the skin and give a refreshing citrus scent.

Being a pale girl, I wasn’t sure how this lotion would look on my skin, but I was pleasantly surprised. It blends in easily and provides a nice subtle, warm glow. It does have some glitter in it, which is derived from the mineral pigment Mica, but it’s less disco ball and more light reflecting. I did wear this on an all day shopping trip, and found that it had great staying power. You really need to wash your hands after applying this though, or you might get it on your clothes, or be left with golden, shimmery palms.

I loved the golden glow the lotion gave me, but I will say that I think it might show up better on warm, dark skin tones. Regardless, I will definitely be adding this to my summer skincare/makeup routine, because who doesn’t want to glow all season long.

Bottom Line: Though the lip balms and body lotion are a little pricey at $15 and $32, I think they are both worth the price, especially with all their good for you ingredients. Plus, the packaging is very elegant and substantial. The lip balms actually remind me of the Fresh Sugar lip products, minus the screw off cap.

Have you tried Jane Iredale Lip Drink® Lip Balms or Golden Shimmer Lotion? What are your favorite Jane Iredale products?
