Review: Lancome Lips You’ll Love!

Lancome Lippies Product Shot 2Press Sample

Hello, my name is Blythe and I’m a lippie junkie. It’s true, and I fully own it. If you were to go through my makeup collection, you would find more lipsticks, glosses, and stains than anything else. You can find them in my bedroom, makeup bag, front pocket of my bag, and in my makeup organizers. I even make a big effort to rotate the different colors throughout the year; I just changed out some of the lippies in my makeup bag from spring to summer.

One of the constant tubes you can find in my makeup bag is a Juicy Tube from Lancome, and one of my all time favorite lipsticks, which I actually wore down to nothing, is also from Lancome. You can imagine my excitement when Cindy asked me to review three different lippies from the brand, including L’Absolu Rouge 160 Rouge Amore, Gloss in Love 230 Cinema Cinnamon, and Lip Lover 337 Lip Lover.

L’Absolu Rouge Advanced Replenishing & Reshaping Lipcolor Pro-Xylane™

160 Rouge Amore – $30.50

 Lancome Rouge 160

  • Restores moisture and strengthens moisture barrier
  • Replenishes, softens and moisturizes lips for up to 8 hours
  • Protects against environmental damage
  • Glides on smoothly and looks satiny

 Lancome Rouge Swatch

L’Absolu Rouge 160 is a bright pinky red, with orange undertones, or at least that is how it shows up on my skin tone. It applied evenly, and felt very satiny on my lips, which I loved. Plus, it has that signature Lancome lipstick scent I quite enjoy.

Once I applied Rouge Amore I felt like my lips were wrapped in long-lasting moisture while also being protected from the elements, and that feeling lasted for hours. I believe this is due to both the vitamin E and Pro-Xylane™.

Now let’s talk about the color payoff. Rouge Amore has lasting power, and I mean long, long lasting power. It stayed on my lips for hours, even through drinking and eating. It left a nice pinky, red stain on my lips that was still present when I took my makeup off at the end of the day. Plus, the color didn’t feather or flake, leaving my lips looking perfectly plump.

Lip Lover Dewy Intense Lip Color

337 Lip Lover- $23.50

 Lancome Lip Cover 337

  • Reduces the look of fine lines
  • Moisturizes with a balmy base
  • Glides on smooth to a non-sticky shine

 Lip Lover Swatch

As much as I love lipstick, I can’t get enough of lip gloss. I prefer the glossy look over matte, mostly because it isn’t drying.  Lip Lover, a bubble gum pink with hints of glitter, definitely provided that dewy, intense color I gravitate towards. I didn’t find the glitter too overpowering though, instead it helps to add to additional light reflecting properties. I noticed a slight fragrance with Lip Lover, which I couldn’t really identify; maybe a mixture of fruit and perfume.

Not only did Lip Lover deliver on shine and pigmentation, but it also delivered on moisture, thanks to its new three-in one elixir formula. This was my favorite aspect of the gloss. Even though the color pay-off wasn’t long lasting, the hydration was exceptionally long lasting. My lips felt moisturized for almost the entire day. Usually I have to put lip balm on several times, but after wearing Lip Lover my lip balm stayed unopened.

The formulation doesn’t leave the lips with that sticky feel of some other glosses. I personally don’t mind the stickiness because I think it helps to keep the gloss on longer. Lip Lover has more of a slippery feel. While this is very comfortable to wear, I did find I needed to re-apply the gloss over and over again. My only real complaint with Lip Lover is the packaging. Instead the usual twist off the top, you have to push a button and then pull the wand out, which did feature a nice long doe foot. I liked the wand, but found the whole push and pop a bit messy, but it is an interesting innovation.

Gloss in Love Fresh Color Meets Comfort and Vinyl Shine

Lancome Gloss in Love 230

230 Cinema Cinnamon- $27.00

 6 Hours of Moisture

  • Expert Applicator
  • Sheer to Medium Coverage

 Gloss in Love Swatch

Gloss in Love Cinema Cinnamon is a pretty peachy nude, with hints of gold glitter. It’s a great everyday gloss that add just the right amount of sparkle and shine. It also has that yummy vanilla cupcake smell, which I noticed during application, but not once it was on my lips.

The gloss also features the click-to-open packaging, which does take some getting used to, along with a curved doe foot wand. While I’m not a huge fan of the click-to-open, the doe foot wand is perfection. It made application so easy, as each side of the wand is curved to fit your upper and lower lip.

And just like L’Absolu Rouge and Lip Lover, I found Gloss in Love to be very moisturizing. My lips felt bathed in hydration even after the gloss wore off. Unlike Lip Lover, though, Gloss in Love has a bit more of a stickiness, which helped it stay on a bit longer.

Lancome Lip Products

Overall: Lancome knows lips. I found L’Absolu Rouge, Lip Lover, and Gloss in Love to have great color payoff, complemented by rich hydrating properties. What more could you want in a lip stick or gloss? Though the products are on the pricier side, they are well worth the investment. I think if I had to pick only one I would choose L’Absolu Rouge, mostly because of its extremely long lasting properties. (Curious about how each product would look on your skin tone, visit the Lancome website for more lip swatches)
