Too Faced Melted Metal Lipsticks Review!

“The next innovation in lip color – Melted Metal is liquified metallic lipstick in a tube. Too Faced has taken the 90’s foiled statement lip and reinvented it with the lustrous look of liquified metal; creating a wearable multifaceted color like you’ve never seen before. Melted Metal comfortably coats lips in bursts of rich, glazed, metallic color that melts on and makes a statement.”

Chief Creative Officer and Founder Jerrod Blandino curated the Too Faced Melted Metal ($21) shades ranging from soft gilded corals, iridescent plums and dazzling pinks that offer brilliant depth like never before. There are 8 new shades in the metallic range:

I need to tell you this: just because you love the original Melted’s does not necessarily mean you will like this version. Obviously, the metals have shimmer while the originals have a cream finish. The Melted Metals are also a bit thinner in consistency, not as long lasting and are a little harder to remove. The two I tried are just as pigmented as the originals, however they don’t fade as evenly as the originals. Another difference is that the Metals feels more like a gloss whereas the original are more of a lipstick.

I chose Debutante and Tu Tu. Debutante is the most metallic of the bunch. I’m sad to say it does not work for me at all. Unfortunately, metallic in this case  means frosty. Lots of frost–like 1960’s frost which settles into every lip line I have. The color is pretty, but overshadowed by the finish. I will say though, it isn’t gritty which is good–are you listening MAC?

Tu Tu dials down the shimmer to something more like a pearly finish. The color is a vibrant pinky coral with just a touch of gold shimmer. I can see this shade leaning more to pink or orange depending on your skin tone.  I love this bright shade for summer and will be wearing it a lot!

The applicator is the same as the original; a precision tip  that  allows a clean application each time. Melted Metals are cruelty-free, gluten-free, and vegan-friendly formulated with no parbens, sulfates or phthalates.

Bottom Line: for us over 40 girls, I would steer clear of Debutante unless your lips are in perfect shape. I think I do prefer a more opaque finish so I think I will stick to the original Melteds. That said, I want to add Melted Macaron to my collection.

For swatches of the entire line and on lips go to Dulce Candy  or Keiko Lynn.

  5. Tutu is a just my thing kind of shade, May be my next Melted?

  6. Tu Tu is gorgeous!

  7. I think TuTu has a small advantage 🙂

  8. I think I still favor the original formula 🙂

  9. I’ would pass on the frosted for myself also. Tu Tu looks pretty.

  10. I won’t blindly buy one online but I do want to check them out. I found the originals to be more drying on my lips than I thought they’d be.

  12. The colors look pretty, but neither would work well for my skin tone… doesn’t mean I won’t pick them up and still try though!

  16. I haven’t even tried the original Melted yet. I’m so behind!!!

  17. These remind me of the Borghese glosses I tried – lots of glitter! I was hoping for more of a metallic foil look, but I don’t think that’s what these are..

  23. I am a fan of the original Melteds as well. I do want to check out the Metal versions in store but I doubt I would buy.
