Top 10 Primers!

Primers are an over 40 woman’s secret weapon and you should be using one! Primers create a smooth canvas for application and help bind makeup to the skin for longer wear throughout the day. Just as you would prime a canvas for a beautiful finish on a painting, a face primer creates a smooth canvas for your makeup. I can think of nothing else that makes such a dramatic difference.

Hourglass Veil Mineral Primer ($52) – very expensive but worth it! Virtually every time I use this, I get compliments on my skin–it’s the closest to flawless skin I’ll ever get. Surprising lightweight, it spreads well, really fills in lines and pores does a great job of  “grabbing” foundation. It has an SPF of 15 and I love the satin finish. Best for: oily skin and wrinkles.

Maybelline Baby Skin Pore Eraser ($6.99) – extremely lightweight, glides on well, but doesn’t “grab” foundation like other primers do. Smooths on easily–a great drugstore option. Beware if you are allergic to silicones. Best for: younger skin.

 Reviva Labs Makeup Primer ($19.50) – another low cost option, this is the primer I keep going back to. Highly effective. this primer has Co-enzyme Q10 adding antioxidant protection. A little goes a loooong way. I saw a friend at the drug store recently and she commented that my skin looked great and asked if I had a new foundation. Nope, the only difference since the last time I saw her was Reviva makeup primer. ‘Nuff said? Best for: everyone

Mally Poreless Face Defender ($40) – a clear gel/powder, this stuff is rocks! It really does make pores disappear– but be careful and do NOT use too much. On the first attempt I used my fingers to apply and it was a disaster–use the sponge that comes with the compact for the perfect application. I’m convinced this was not created by Mally Roncal, but by Criss Angel because not only does it make pores vanish but it transforms from a gel to a powder. Best for: making pores disappear

Too Faced Lip Insurance Lip Primer ($19) – we over 40 women need a good lip primer to keep lipstick from bleeding or feathering AND to lessen the dry lines on our lips.
