Veil Cosmetics Line

After 40 it takes a little more time and effort and in my case, a village to perfect your makeup. Fine lines, wrinkles and pores need to be filled in for a smooth canvas. Veil Cosmetics has four products to help us achieve complexion perfection. Sunset Light Primer, AutoMatte Mattifying Balm, Sunset Skin Foundation and Complexion Fix. Let’s look at how all these products work together.

Veil Cosmetics

Sunset Light Primer $45 is a 3 in 1 anti-aging formula that improves the wear of makeup, fills in lines and hydrates and plumps the skin. Super lightweight and silky, you can apply alone under makeup or mix with your foundation. It is oil-free and glides on skin. To be honest, I didn’t notice much of a difference when wearing this primer, I had high hopes but I’m disappointed.

Sunset Skin Foundation $49. Whipped and airy, this water-based foundation provides light to medium coverage with a barely-there feel. I prefer more coverage and this is easily built up without looking cakey. The natural finish doesn’t sink into fine lines or accentuate dry patches. There are 15 shades available: 3 each in Porcelain, Light, Medium, Tan and Deep. 2N, light/neutral is a great match for my pale winter skin. Both the Sunset Primer and Foundation are housed in a pump bottle with a twist top. Pump packaging equals no waste.

AutoMatte Mattifying Base & Touch-Up $40. Unlike powder that makes your skin look older and dry, AutoMatte’s soft velvet finish diminishes the appearance of pores and fine lines while keeping your t-zone in check.  Available in one universal shade, translucent, this non-drying and non-caking, provides a soft-focus effect that leaves your skin looking naturally smooth. Included with the compact is a sponge to apply. Vitamins C and E in the formula promotes collagen. This does a much better job of filling in lines and wrinkles and smoothing the skin than Sunset Light. Oily-skinned gals will love it for its mattifying properties. Keep it in your handbag for touch-ups in the T-zone.

Veil Cosmetics AutoMatte Mattifying Base & Touch-Up

Complexion Fix $40 is a multi-usage concealer, highlighter or corrector with sheer to medium buildable coverage. The flat synthetic brush smooths and brightens the undereye area. For extreme dark circles and sunspots, chose a shade deeper than skin tone to neutralize. Complexion Fix touts itself as a highlighter too, though I disagree—I like at least a tiny bit of shimmer if I’m going to use a highlighter and I don’t see a radiance with this product.

Veil Cosmetics Complexion Fix

Bottom Line: Veil Cosmetics is hit or miss for me. Sunset foundation and AutoMatte were wins for me, but I could skip the other two products.
