Cleansing conditioners aren’t new, Chaz Dean developed the concept of cleansing conditioning in 1993; he hasn’t used lathering shampoo in his salon since then. WEN Fall Tuscan Pear ($36) is the newest fragrance for Fall 2014.

If your hair is dry, frizzy, oily, dull or out of control, the problem might not be your hair–it might just be your shampoo. Shampoos that lather use sulfates and detergents, which can strip your hair of natural essential oils, and make make it less manageable. WEN is different. The creamy formula cleanses and conditions without harsh chemicals to improve the look and feel of hair.

You can see the difference after just one use. In fact, in a 3-week study of users of WEN cleansing conditioner:

  • 97.5 % of participants saw more shine
  • 90% of participants saw less frizz
  • 90% of participants saw more bounce and body

If you have read this blog more than a few times, you know my hair is super fine, thin, and limp. If you look up the term “flathead” in the dictionary, my picture is there. I surely didn’t think this thick, rich cream that doesn’t lather would spell disaster for my hair, but I was surprised at how well it worked.

When I use WEN, my hair feels really, really clean, is super shiny and the color is reborn! For my length of hair, the directions say to use 16 pumps of product. I find this to be way too much for my fine hair and I cut it half and only use eight: two at the crown, two at the back and nape of the neck, two at the mid-shaft to the ends of each side of the head. Splash a bit of water on and massage vigorously into your scalp for 2-3 minutes. The directions say to comb the cleansing conditioner through and clip your hair up for at least 2-5 minutes. I just use my fingers to comb through and leave it on while I shave my legs and use my body scrub. WEN takes longer to rinse out than regular shampoo, I guess because it’s so thick. True, it doesn’t lather but you can really feel it deep cleansing–it is slightly tingly on the scalp, but not in a bad way–in an invigorating way.

Chaz says you should be able to cleanse every 2-3 days when using WEN products. A 16 oz. bottle of Cleansing Conditioner should last you 4-6 weeks.

WEN Fall Tuscan Pear Cleansing Conditioner smells just like a fresh juicy pear–so sweet, fresh and crisp! If you prefer a warmer scent for fall, try WEN Ginger Pumpkin or Apple Spice scents!
