It’s been a minute since we’ve featured ybf (your best friend) Beauty here on Prime Beauty. Here’s a little refresher course–ybf beauty was founded by Stacey Schieffelin, a former Ford model, renowned beauty expert, and highly successful entrepreneur. As founder and CEO of ybf beauty and Models Prefer, she has engineered an 18-year record of success as the #1 global color cosmetic line in direct sales on four shopping networks in eight countries. Along with her know-how, she brings you a comprehensive line of blendable, goof-proof cosmetics that deliver maximum results with minimal effort.

One of her newest offerings is The Girlfriend Palette $49 and from one girlfriend to another, it’s fabulous! You know what a palette Ho I am and this satisfies my cravings for a convenient, travel-friendly all-in-one palette! The shades are universally flattering with a mix of both warm and cool eyeshadows, a bronzer, highlighter, beautiful blush, brow pencil and even a finishing/neutralizing powder, a nice extra addition.

The palette is paraben and cruelty-free and contains:

  • 8 shadow shades in a combination of matte and glitter
  • Matte golden brown bronzing powder
  • Neutralizing powder
  • Illuminating powder
  • Blush
  • Eyebrow Pencil

The packaging is a lovely mix of sophistication and glam. The black cardboard palette has the word Girlfriend emblazed in red glitter letters on the front. Inside is a huge mirror that runs the length of the palette. This is no wimpy package ladies, there is a definite heft to it and that’s my only complaint–it’s quite large and heavy. I will take that in stride though because I love what’s inside so much.

Stacey understands over 40 women (being one herself) and has infused her formulas with Smart Active Immune Complex™ and enriched with extracts from the Earth. This complex helps skin look radiant and younger-looking and helps protect against environmental damage. You can tell Stacy put a lot of thought into the palette–I feel like it was made with us older women in mind. The addition of the neutralizing powder is perfect for concealing redness, pores, and imperfections and ideal for us over 40 beauties. When I brushed it on my nose with a big fluffy brush, my pores disappeared but you can’t see powder on my face! The bronzer is matte with no glitter or sparkle to emphasize texture, the matte blush a beautiful, flattering rose pink shade and the highlighter is subtle too. Even the shimmery eyeshadows are not over the top. Everything is very pigmented so if you are fair like me, be careful with the bronzer and blush and go easy with your application. I’m glad that she remembered the brows too, they are the frame for your eyes!

The eyeshadow names are all the qualities you look for or if you’re lucky like me, find in your girlfriends.

  • Loyal  shimmery icy white shimmer
  • Sincere matte dove gray
  • Understanding shimmery pewter
  • Supportive matte slate gray with a blue undertone
  • Caring matte beige with peach undertones
  • Cherished shimmery peach
  • One-of-a-kind matte fawn brown
  • Thoughtful shimmery copper
  • Automatic eyebrow pencil shade changes as you apply pressure

Since I do so many neutral eye looks, I decided to use the cooler tones for this one. I applied Sincere to the crease, Loyal to the lid and inner corner and Understanding to the outer third of the eye. I used Supportive as a liner on the upper and lower lash lines. I didn’t use the eyebrow pencil because I just had my brows retouched from microblading and they were a little sore so I left them alone.

I lightly brushed the neutralizing powder all over my face–I LOVE this powder, it’s extremely finely milled and seems to melt into the skin without looking like you have powder on! This powder was made in Italy as was the entire palette, maybe that’s why it’s so great. Anywho, I also used the bronzer and the lovely rose pink blush. These are very pigmented so use a light hand or a duo fiber or fan brush to apply. I use my trusty Mophe E61 brush to apply the highlight just to the top of my cheekbones.

Bottom Line: The ybf Beauty Girlfriend Palette is the ideal palette to create a flawless look for us older beauties. It’s a great value, perfect all-in-one palette and makes an excellent gift for your girlfriends! I have two girlfriends with birthdays before the holidays and they will be receiving it, but shhhh, don’t tell!
